This is mad thread.

3 months of Bradley and we'll all be shouting for Trent.

It's like suggesting that Quansah can replace Virgil.

It’s the new SCM (actually it’s always been there), players get better when they’re not playing due to injury, etc

Then 20 mins into their first game back, they’ll be called shit again.

Yeah because Virgil has been defensively shite 🙄
The vote is close so definitely not that mad.

And yet ... stats over 1,400 mins say otherwise. Oops I'll remember to just use the last 20 mins from now on.

Very debatable as to whether that is a reflection of the madness of the question or the madness of SCM.

When I say "debatable" I mean you can argue the case, but the FACT is the latter reflection is the correct one.

No. That is opinion not fact. The facts are the stats. How you interpret them is opinion.

I already made the best point in this thread;why is it continuing?

Fine, I'll add more

You could argue comparing Trent to Bradley at the same age would show more. Trent at that time was a phenomenon and borderline dictates our attack. Defensively? Bambi on ice.

Bradley; lot more assured in defence and knows how to time a tackle. Offensively? Decent. Involved in attacks but doesn't necessarily dictate play. A vital cog in an efficient attack.

What we want is irrelevant. It's what slot wants. Does slot want the headache of half hearted Trent appearing? Does slot have the patience to develop Bradley? Based on Quansahs treatment I'm not 100% on that.

If Trent goes we're buying a new starting RB.

The only way to turn Bradders from raw into cooked (do we want him medium rare?) is to play him. If we know Trent is going, then that means we need to be braver in playing him and with our first teamers. However we do also need to acknowledge that even though he is putting some stinkers in, Trent can be a match winner and we do want to win this thing.

I'd be prioritising Bradders though - and then by the summer Slot can decide how much of an upgrade he needs. I'd rather we were in for a CB who can play RB in the summer, covering both spots. And put the big investment at the back into a LB.

We also need to look at 'ceiling'

Their performance levels are actually not that far apart so far this season. Trent's ceiling hasn't been touched for about 2 seasons at least when he stopped wanting to be an attacking full back and wanted to be a strolling inverted CM/RB.

Bradley's ceiling could be just as high as we saw from 2019 - 2021 Trent, we just need to get him playing and testing that.

I thought Trent was decent enough defensively until he developed the Jude Bellend syndrome and couldn't be bothered anymore

It's actually the Marcus Rashford syndrome.

Also on Bradley - the issue we have is that he seems to be constantly injured after any intense game this season. If this is a developing pattern then he is another Jota in the waiting.

Bradley.
Trent is a liability in this formation and tactics.

And yet, we have the best defensive record in the Premier League and 2nd best defensive record in the Champions League… all while playing a liability.

I think it’s probably for the best that we let this lazy strolling liability of a RB leave the club on a free at the end of the season as he’s clearly harming our chances of ever winning anything.

Remember the CL final against Real?

Watch their goal again.

Remind me… was this the final where their keeper decided he was Superman and we were all out of Kryptonite?

Or the one were our keeper thought he was Superman and snorted a bag of Kryptonite by mistake.

No, it was the one where your boy Trent fucked up for their goal.

We must have scored to draw then and lost on penalties?

I don't really like this logic

Our forwards (bar Keita) did everything in their power that day to score and were met by possibly one of the greatest goalkeeping performances of all time. Any other day we probably would have scored 3 or more.

Trent lost track of his runner, which he does multiple times in a season.

If Trent kept his concentration then maybe we do get to pens.

Trent as a right back at times forgets the basics, or seemingly decides he can't be arsed.

Yes the type of football we played under klopp was very much risk/reward when it came to Trent. Slot seems inherently more risk averse, unless we're chasing a game.

So, the question becomes "does slot want his DM/RCM to babysit, or does he want his RCM to create enough that we can have defensively sound right back"

I also hasten to add, "defensively sound" does not mean "attacking deficient"

I'm not talking perfect but he thought was fine more often than not. He also kept breaking all kinds of assisting records while being 22 or so, I think we all expected him to become more solid with age and experience

It's frustrating because he's obviously good enough but it seems like the combination of midfield experiments, Jude wankfest and social media hype has him talking about Ballon d'ors instead of focusing on his game

Agree Trent could have done better but the ball comes an awful long way before Vini scores.A 38yr old Modric has the ball in his own half on the right priot to playing it to Valverde I think (I may have had tear gas in the eye that day so can't remember!) and we have nothing on the left as they by pass Robbo.
Not a fan of blaming one player for a result in general. I don't actually get the logic for most part for goals like the one we conceded. Can't think of many close run games where we can blame one, it is a team game after all.
Trent has to do better at the moment but so do we as a team, we should have scored before and after that. We were scoring for fun before then and very attacking team, how many games before then did we fail to score in?
It is often Keepers who normally get the brunt of one player causing us to lose a game and kind of get the logic more on that but even still, that was Karius and Adrian in key games but even then I would never want to feel like Karius did after that game.

Tbh for that final I blame Keita

I’m talking about if we don’t score, the only way we can win a match is via a penalty shootout after extra time.

Yeah. But if you don't score and then haplessly dick around at the back, you lose. Like Trent successfully proved.
