Re: Derby

I'm done with Agger. He has a lot of potential, but stable CB pairings who play game after game are the basic defensive foundation for any decent side, and he just can't play with any consistency.

Re: Derby

FUCK! Carra at right back. Great.

If Kelly is fit, then why not play him. I'm glad I won't have to watch this shite tomorrow..

Why not play Kelly at RB? Oh wait, I've just remembered, we're managed by a gutless Budgie
You don't want to see the sublime Meireles and Carragher partnership owning the right wing?

Ugh, everyone kept saying "I want to get back to the football."

Wow that does sound fucking horrendous

Re: Derby

Kelly's not injured, is he? He should be playing if not.

Then again, Everton do tend to score from headers against us quite often, so maybe the Greek's not a bad call.

Pucas is the insurmountable problem here.

Re: Derby

Kelly isn't injured.

Great so now we have, Carra and Konchesky on the full backs and Lucas and Poulsen in central midfield. This is going to be a joy. So much mobility and creativity in the centre and pace on the wings. Great.

Meireles played a fantastic game for Portugal and ran the show centrally. Where does Roy play him? On the wing.

Sack him. Now. His latest comments make me want to cry and throw up.

On paper yeah, but we saw how he played against Northampton, where we conceded from a header.

almost makes you sad hicks is no longer around to distract you.

Re: Derby

Another piece of damning statistic - Ian Holloway has more away wins this season than Roy has managed in this season and last.

Re: Derby

Carra-Skrtel-Greek-Konch the back four?

Christ almighty.

That slow arsed back four coupled with Roy's tactics mean they'll be defending so deep they'll be playing at fucking anfield.

Re: Derby

The view from Everton:

What kind of derby are you expecting this time round?

Quite frankly, similar to last season. Us passing the ball beautifully from left to right and back - without going anywhere. Whilst you systematically boot us off the park. The reverse of previous seasons hasn't been lost on us! We're just baffled as to how we STILL end up on the losing side!

What's behind your dodgy start to the season?

An excellent question, one I'm struggling to nail down. We've had a couple of injuries, but our squad is much stronger than in recent times. Our bench has had the sort of options we could only dream of last season. Obviously the lack of available quality up top doesn't help. Injuries have kept Saha out and Yakubu below par, however this isn't the sole issue. The latter half of last season we had worse times fielding strikers, and still strung results together. Balance on the right has also been an issue. Again though, not a problem to suddenly manifest itself this season. As we improve, teams play more defensive against us. We lack a little nouse creatively around the box.

Anyone need to buck up their ideas?

Anyone sat behind a keyboard that suddenly thinks we can currently do better than Moyes at the helm. That's not to say a couple of the players haven't been below the standards they set themselves. However, I don't think any of them are hiding from the facts. What we need to do is string a couple of good results together. The derby, then Spurs, being a great opportunity to do so.

Everton players we should be worried about?

Fellaini, Jagielka, Pienaar, Rodwell, Saha, Anichebe all injured. Oh, you mean during the game? As you can no doubt guess from the lack of summer deals at Goodison, we'll have few new names. Gueye may be one to look out for if we are struggling for width, however I suspect he will have to bide his time a little longer. Cahill looks like being our major threat again this weekend. No real surprise there.

Three names you'd like to see missing from our teamsheet?

Kuyt, he is one of those players his fans love, and the opposition hate (much like Cahill for us). He also has a nasty habit of finding the back of our net. An injury on international duty seems to have made his inclusion slim. Reina - quite simply because he is an excellent 'keeper. The next I'd like to see missing is Carragher because he wrestles like it's WWE.

Key battle on the pitch?

Both out of position, Carragher at left-back and Coleman at right midfield should be an interesting match-up if it occurs. We have high hopes for Coleman, but not in midfield. He has appeared to balance up our team recently though. What he lacks tactically, he makes up for with a good engine and very attacking instincts. The returning Torres must be looking forward to a defensive line-up missing Jagielka. How Heitinga deals with a return to centre-back against Torres should also be a key battle.

Favourite and least favourite Goodison derby memory?

I'm fortunate enough to be affected by time and wine in such a way that distant heartbreaks soon fade. I've got enough to remember with the previous two 2-0 defeats in the league games at Goodison. They managed to swing between a spineless capitulation and a daylight robbery. As for favourite, certainly from the recent era, Riena's face as AJ scored the third.

Is there a bigger game in your calendar?

At the start of the season the derby games are still the ones we look out for. The only bigger games will be any we earn via a semi-final or better in a cup. Another early summer trip to Wembley and the derby games are back in the pile with the rest - unless we won of course!

Score prediction?

I was confident both times last season, and miserably wrong. On paper we should be favourites this time as well - which is a bad omen. We seem to perform better as the underdog. I just can't see past you grabbing a goal. So I'm going to have to dig out my lucky socks and go with Cahill sneaking an 85th minute winner, 2-1

If Carra's playing fullback again (which incidentally, if it keeps happening, will not help in getting the best out of the old warhorse for the next couple of seasons) I'm glad Pienaar won't be there.

Agger I believe has injured his back. Again.
Not that it matters like but it's not his back this time around. He got a kick on the thigh during Int. training and is now suffering from a so called 'wooden-thigh'.

Anways it's highly frustrating with all these injuries of his. He played extremely well in the first 35 minutes for Denmark and I can't help but wonder how good he'd actually end up if he could keep himself fit.

I'm still confident he'll come through this spell but it's obviously not great for his confidence at all. He has ruled out speculation that he's about to hang up his boots though.

*waves strangely shaped flag*

Re: Derby

Overpaid and unreliable, with no sign of improvement - I'd sell Agger in an instant.

And that's one of the reason why I'm so happy that you're not in charge.

Re: Derby

No one is doubting Aggers ability khl, but for far too long now the idea of him has been better than the actual reality.

There's nothing incorrect with what I've said.

He's not worth £70,000 a week, and we all know it.

Stop playing hard to get Ryan.

Oh and Welcome back.

Re: Derby

He's never had an injury free season in his time with us, bar his second.

I know his proponents go on a fair bit about his "footballing qualities". But his injury problems mean that unless they subside completely, we'll always need at least another 2 top class centrebacks in the squad, so that one can step in to make up for his absences. It's hardly a clear cut decision picking him when he does recover, and that will be the case even if and when Skrtel is sold to be replaced by another.

:'(

how anyone can have a go at agger when he has been utilised at left back, in a defense that invites pressure protected by two holding midfielders that aren't worthy of the name is beyond me.

What, you and rebel in the NESV thread? I've read it, pretty embarrassing stuff alright.

What's your definition of 'embarrassing'?

I wonder. Still, great to see you back. Just try not to y'know, allow any bitterness to colour your opinions
