Without rafa publicising things so much SOS wouldn't have gotten involved though, & no matter why you think of them they stopped refinancing at least once, though probably a few times, through direct action.

what the media headlines would be like if we had Rafa in charge ?

We just had a transfer window where we signed no senior players. I think that might be the first time that has ever happened.

Why isn't Kenny in the media talking about how he's not being backed and how he wanted to buy player x but wasn't given the funds ? Is he secure enough in himself to know he doesn't have to create bullshit excuses to justify his position ? Or does he simply respect the Liverpool way ?

The point being, when people talked about the media circus and "instability" created by the constant media stories under Rafa you failed to acknowledge where a lot of those stories came from. We've now got a manager who genuinely puts the club first, not his reputation.
Oh and by the way

January 2009 No one bought
January 2010 One free transfer

And thee media has been full of 'The money is their if Kenny wants it' statements from the owners....
And what did Rafa say to the media, about him not being backed etc etc and all that nonsense.

Unlike this time when Kenny just gets on with the job.
But Kenny is being backed, so how can you make that comparrison?

Fucking Hell, if he hadn't have let us all know what the 2 bandits was up to, Liverpool FC would probably be in Liquidation now, and thats not in jest!

Those Cowboys was trying to strip the club of all its wealth and put it in thier own pockets, Benitez most likely saved Liverpool FC with his actions!
I'm aware of how the bullshit story goes.

Benitez did absolutely nothing to stop what was going on at the club. The bank did, do you think the bank wouldn't have acted if it wasn't for Benitez ? Give me a break. That people actually believe he's responsible shows how little attention you pay to reality and how much you pay to the media.

I'm aware of their intentions, I actually pointed them out before the takeover happened. But who actually lined their pockets by deceiving the LFC fans ?

Was it the Yanks, who put 150m into the club while making the club pay 111m in interest, in effect subsidizing the club to the tune of 39m.

Or was it Rafa, who negotiated a new job for himself while in charge, then negotiated a 6m payoff ?

Rosco - the dark force within you is strong when it comes to Roffa (and only then, mon ami). Come on man, the guy would have preferred to stay - any day of the week - it's all be discussed here many times. Have you ever worked in an organization where it became so poisoned, it didn't exactly bring out the best in you? This is how I see it. Yes he was Machiavellian at times, but it was a need alas. INTER F.C. was going to be a tough one for any manager. Following a manager who did the triple? No win situation.

Despite all the shite going on behind the scenes, I thought Rafa did well, except for one season (the last one). I'd have him back in a heartbeat - I'd prefer if people would at least show a token thanks to the man who brought us back into the CL season after season, who gave us some of the best memories as adults......How can you not tip your hat at that?

You realise Rafa is largely responsible for a good chunk the "shite behind the scenes", you can't create problems and then blame them as the reason you don't succeed. He's caused trouble everywhere he went, at some point you have to realise not every organisation is poisonous. Maybe it's just him.

I remember us winning the Champions League after he sent out a side nobody would have picked and had us 3-0 down at halftime. Had an injury not prompted him to change things we'd have been even worse off, to grant him credit for that seems obscene tbh.

Agree with the first part. He's either the unluckiest man in football or a bit of a cunt to work with.

The second part is a little harsh. I also think that Benitez tends to get way more credit than he deserves but winning the CL was a magnificent achievement. The planning for the final was clearly a monumental cock up but he did get us there.

Ross, I don't agree with the analysis that he was responsible for a lot of the stuff. He was just fighting his corner, - the post Athens press conference was an example where, yes, he stirred the pot, but it was because he was utterly frustrated by all the talking and no doing in the transfer market. To suggest that he was responsible for this mess, when he was just reacting was preposterous, IMHO.

As for Istanbul, I can't believe you are minimizing it mate. Every manager has luck. But you realize we won a series of tough home and away games to get there? And he made another final 2 years later, and another semi final or two that didn't make the final? I disagree with this analysis. It's way too harsh.
