So essentially what you're saying is Suarez can miss more than any other player but that every other player has to up their conversion rate.

Not having that I'm afraid.
No. I am saying that so far this season Suarez has carried our attack. Is it lack of goalthreath or unfortune that we havent scored more? We have certainly created a lot and hit the post 18 times in addition to 4 missed pens. I believe we will score more given that bellers and Maxi support Suarez.

I usually never put down the poster but dropping Suarez????
Have you gone mad?
He's been carrying us for most of the season, basically every chance he's had he's created himself either by intelligent movement or dribbling. If he had better players around him he definitely would have scored more goals . Just look at his record for Uruguay.
Also how many chances has he created for other players like Carroll for instance.
Jeez, Suarez is the main reason that Im still watching. Well Stevie too.

I think I read a few weeks back that Suarez and Adam have a had a hand in 18 of our goals (upto that point).

Losing Suarez certainly isn't a good thing, but it might not be a total disaster either. We do rely on him a lot, but we shouldn't, because he's not really a great goalscorer.

Hopefully if we are forced to be without him others will step up. Then, as has been suggested, when he comes back he will be raring to go again.

Also, with a bit of luck this might teach him a bit of a lesson. I'm not holding my breath on that one though

Yeah, but if Klasnic played for us it'd be:
7 crossbars
4 match bans
Same amount of racial abuses.

You sir, are fucking barmy.
It certainly seems that way.

Though TBF I was thinking that when Suarez was out we'd have some attacking players on the pitch, instead of none, like tonight.

Like I said early on we lack creativity. We're good and holding the ball in midfield and our bulid up is OK but we're having trouble getting clearcut chances.
So to be honest I wouldnt mind an attacking midfielder/ winger. Luis Garcia more or less oh and another striker.

I wouldn't draw any conclusions about the merits (or not) of our team after facing city, that squad cost half a BILLION to put together. if you thought we would/wouldn't start scoring then one game shouldn't change your mind either way.

Mate, ignore them for a second.

Gerrard, Bellamy and Maxi were on the bench.

I.e the only players who ever look like scoring for us.

Kenny fucked up.

People who think we're better without Suarez on the pitch are mental in my book. When he was missing chances earlier in the season people were quick to throw 'shit finisher' etc at him but at the same time he was single handedly trying to win games for us. We needed to sign players of his ilk to HELP him.

This isn't directed at you Jon as I knew what you were getting at. The notion we might gel more as a team and others might step up in lieu of Suarez. The same was said about Gerrard at times that we play better without him.

Gerrard and Suarez are our two world class outfield players and we need them both in our starting line ups.

devil's advocate

kuyt rather than maxi - kenny thought kuyt would provide greater protection than maxi
bellamy - we are being careful with his knees
gerrard - is just back from injury

games against city away aren't going to decide whether we qualify for CL, it's going to be games against our direct rivals for the spot (arsenal, chelsea and at a push spurs) and also teams in the middle bottom half of the table. I'm 'meh' with regards to the city game I expected nothing but I do expect a better performance in the CC with the prospect of a final in the balance.

Games against the likes of city will decide it if we can't beat Blackburn and co. We need points, where th come from is irrelevant.
To be fair to Kenny, we rested our matchwinners tonight and lost but we played them on Friday (against Newcastle) and won, City played theirs today and won and didnt play them against SUnderland and lost. We both picked up 3 pts, maybe Kenny was thinking that the Newcastle game is a game we SHOULD win and wanted to ensure we got three points out of the two fixtures.
We are STILL just three points of fourth.
And we still have Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea to come to us and only United to visit.
If you look at the top 6 fixtures from now until the season end:
US - 3 home and 1 away.
ARSENAL - 4 home and 1 away.
SPURS - 1 home and 4 away.
UNITED - 1 home and 4 away.
CHELSEA - 2 homes and 3 away.
CITY - 2 home and 3 away.
Which in all fairness reflects a lot better on us and Arsenal than any of the other top teams. United in particular have played all bar one of their tough HOME games and in the second half of the season have to play Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and City AWAY.
And Spurs who have yet to play on the road at City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

So in spite of it all........

There were a couple of times after Rafa "rotated" players that we came on really strong in the second half of the season. Maybe we'll do the same?

I just think we're more likely to drop points than our rivals as we are struggling for goals.
downing
henderson
adam
play more often than not so that is half of our attacking six and there is not a consistent goal scorer amoung them, is it any wonder we're struggling for goals?
