8:15 kick off on BT sport. Hopefully McManaman isn’t covering our game.

Since binning off every Liverpool player from my fantasy team we have found our swag back. Seriously, we’ve stopped just crossing to no one. Been more measured and rotating out front 3 seems to helping.

I’m not sure what to expect from Brighton. Will they play the only way they know and try possession ball? Or copy cat everyone and play 11 behind the ball?

I think Mané will get some minutes to get him ticking for the following game. Firmino will start and Salah may start on the bench.

Phillips and Hendo to stay in the back 4.

4-0 win.

Not sure. It was only a very minor issue. Or something along those lines.

I can see Klopp ringing a few changes. Jones is due a start, especially after his cameo against West Ham, I wouldn't be surprised to see Thiago rested too, but we'll see. Ox might get a start if Mane is out.

I think we’ll throw one of the new lads in given we are likely to see a low block. Mo & Thiago rested for City.

I don't think Kabak is due in Liverpool for a few days yet.
I doubt he will be involved at all.

I usually don't believe in jinxes but ever since I stopped watching we've won, so I guess I'll be following the game here.
Ha! I have missed the last 2 seasons for same reason. Last season I watched the first 2 minutes against Tottenham, the first 15 against Newcastle (in each case we conceded early goals) and a few minutes against City at home (admittedly better).

Fabinho won't be back I think. Expect the team to be similar to Sunday's - hopefully Mane is fit, and expect Bobby to play. Salah may be rested.

I like it but I don't think it's happening I mean, seeing Kabak or Davies. They'll need a few training sessions to get up to speed. Klopp usually doesn't throw players into the deep end unless he's forced to do so. I think Philips and Hendo will continue in defence. Might see Davies on the bench.
Have no idea about the injury status of Matip and Fabinho, but I have a feeling that they'll both miss the game.

For sure Kabak won't have had the training minutes (if he's even here by then) and I don't think we've ever seen Klopp throw someone straight in.

Davies is a different case though. He'll have had a few training sessions and he's been playing Championship football (with due respect are Brighton much above that level?) and watching those clips re.his style he could conceivably drop in next to Phillips but I doubt Klopp will want two inexperienced CBs starting even though their height and heading abilities could be very useful against Brighton at set pieces who, if I'm not remembering incorrectly, have one of the tallest teams in the PL. The massive benefit would be Hendo back in midfield.

I'd take the gamble and go with Phillips and Davies. The benefits (set pieces and Hendo back in midfield) outweigh the downside for me. No doubt Klopp will go Phillips & Hendo again though since Fabs won't be back until City.

Didn't Klopp tell Millie he needed his legs for Brighton hence why he took him off ? Or was it just for the tightness he felt? If so Gini could be getting a rest for City where I think we'll see a midfield of Fabs or Hendo + Thiago and Gini with Fabs or Hendo + Kabak or Davies as CBs.

Mane, Jones and Shaqiri to come on for minutes. Davies too if he doesn't start (he could also give Robbo a break, he's played at LB a lot even if it's his weaker position by far).

Isn't kabak going to have to isolate anyway?

Davies makes more sense as an option as at least he's already in the country

Unanimous disagreement with my Kabak shout - probably fair. I see strong rationale for keeping the same back 4 as West Ham for consistency, but also thinking about how we use it to test what we intend to use against City (if it won't also be the same).

I think we should just rely on all out attack. CB positions can be covered by laying the rotting corpses of Gomez and Matip on the 18 yard line. If Gomez has decomposed enough, he may even be able to cover both positions on his own .. at a stretch

I doubt Mané or Fabinho will play, the way Klopp has spoken about Keita and Matip seems to indicate that we have fucked up and played players with issues that then caused them to get injured for long spells and we cant afford that with eithet Mané or Fabs.

Jones deserves a run to build on his great cameo the other day and its too soon for Kabak or Davies realistically although Davies should make the bench. We should be agressive and look to take them on. Shaq, Thiago and Firmino are going to give us the best chance of threading our way through a massed defence.

Will it be a massed defence though? Not really the Brighton 'way'.

Kabak won't be here in time..
Davies likely will available from the bench

Philips Hendo or Fab at the back..

Salah for Mane.. make sure Mane is 100% for the City game. Introduce mane later on as a sub for Salah if needed..

Don't be surprised if we play 3 at the back against City

3 4 1 2 - or something similar I'm expecting against city..

Fabs with Phillips and Davies either side.

With Robbo and TAA operating as Wing Backs

Source? I read (yesterday on the BBC or Sky feed) that he was arriving today. Friday (4 days after signing) seems a little long considering our situation.

You're quite right, sorry. I read last night that he was coming in at the end of the week.

me too, I tried to stop shouting at the Red Men after kick off but now I'm really afraid of a return to the era of Brendan.

Klopp:

"If they [the two new CBs] had to start together tomorrow that wouldn't be too cool. I think we will give them a few more days.

"We play three days later again so it means we are in a position where team patterns are very important and everyone needs to know what he is doing.

"These players are coming in new but we are really looking forward, it's work under time pressure but that's how it is.

"We have solutions here and now we have more options. I am really happy for it, for both players it is a big chance and for us as well and that's what I really like about the situation."
