Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

Agree LTW,
If we signed him last summer the internet would have exploded with the usual shit

If we're going to buy a striker to play in a 4-3-3, let's just get that 20 and invest it in Llorente ... He does everything Carroll does, plus the things Rodgers wants/needs. I don't know if 20 million will get him, but if it does, we'd have made out as bandits.

Dont know why i'm not sold on llorente

perhaps its because he's older than i expected

I'd be surprised if we can get Llorente for the same fee as we will receive for Carroll.
Especially the way Rodgers has gone about this(allegedly)

Worth a punt but 20M won't cut it. We'll have to stump up more but who knows.

Wizzy, for the record how many goals did Ba score for the season vs. Our bunch?

Ba made scoring look easy when he was the Barcodes' spearhead and TBH it didn't surprise me, as I for one wanted him when he was still at West Ham. Then when they bought Cisse he "took one for the team" and slotted into a wide role without a word of complaint. If he stands up to a thorough medical I think he'd be a very good signing.

Who cares? I'd rather have the 7 million and have 20 to spend. He's a good player mind, but goal machine? Please.

He's scored 1 in 2 pretty much throughout his career so far. That's the scoring rate of a beasty forward by anyone's standards.

Hoffenheim was about 1 in 3 ... what were his scoring stats over the last 6 months in the league? That's a worry as I said as they were playing with him up front, or slightly off Cisse.

FFS LTW, he played wide right. Not 'off the striker'. And it wasn't 6 months. He left in January to go to the African nations (came back February ) and scored up until he left. He scored his last goal before he left against Man Utd on Jan 4th. The league ended 13 May. So about 3 months or so if you allow him that he couldn't really have scored too many from the distant continent of Africa. In the centre forward position he scored 16 in half a season btw.

93 goals in 190 career games.

yes, he was great in the 1st half ... no one is denying that. I didn't include his stats for Rouen and Mouscron, so I thought the 63 goals in 152 games (in England & Germany) was a good return (but not 'goal machine'ish).

I don't remember him playing 'wide right' (against us, or any other team I watched Newcastle play again) - but let's say it was as neither of us really care that much.

In fact Ba also scored on the first game after he returned from the African cup of nations.

It was wide left actually Wiz, but I promise you, that he did. Cisse played as a lone striker, and Ba played a position alien to him for the remainde of the season.

Odd move by Newcastle - I guess they don't think that highly of him ... Especially if the Carroll links are true (as they're not going to be playing Cisse on the wing to accommodate Carroll)

Don't really think that follows, Wizzy. It could just as easily demonstrate that Ba is more versatile than Cisse.

I think he tried it out to see how Cisse got on. It worked, and so he persisted. If Cisse hadn't been scoring I doubt Pardew would have stayed with it, but there was no need to change. As for why he's making other plans, there is a lot of talk about Ba having a buy out and that he's got ambitions beyond Newcastle. I guess Pardew needs to plan to cover that.

See the ony reason i'm not sold on Ba is because his knee WILL explode for us.

Derek Llambias, the man who brokered the deal that made Andy Carroll the most expensive Englishman in football history, has sensationally claimed: “He’s worth f*** all!”

Don't go, Andy, certainly not to those bastards.

Wiz did you not watch the premier league after Christmas?
How can you not know Ba moved wide to accomodate Cisse. It was one of the most talked about features of the latter part of the season how selfless he was and how he did his bit for the team and allowed Cisse to shine.

I dont want him but his 3 month spree is not a reason.

Wide or not, he missed every chance for 3 months.

I wouldnt mind him, but the knees will fall off. Guaranteed.

Still don't know why llorente is the answer

He is good but still... The time to buy him was a few years ago
