Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

Because in the back of your mind, something tells you having seen enough of our players over the years that only a complete idiot would believe they are capable of playing Rodgers' style of football. And so, because you are too emotionally fragile to go through a fourth year of depression, you want Carroll here to allow us to revert back to simple tactics for simple-minded players, and then at least try to put some results together.

Haha I AM emotionally fragile, tis true

Liverpool have refused to consider Newcastle's initial attempt to sign Andy Carroll on a season-long loan.
Newcastle offered to pay part of striker Carroll's £80,000-a-week wages, with a view to a permanent deal at a specified price next summer.
But the terms fall some way short of Liverpool's expectations.
The Anfield club rejected the initial offer on Sunday night and Liverpool's preference is a sale, rather than to loan out the 23-year-old.
Sources close to 23-year-old England striker Carroll maintain his preferred option is to remain at Anfield to try to prove himself to Rodgers.
Liverpool begin their pre-season tour of North America on Monday and Carroll, who is currently on an extended holiday after Euro 2012, is due to join up with the squad on 23 July.
West Ham co-owner David Gold has alsosaid the Upton Park club would be interested in signing Carroll.
Carroll struggled with Liverpool until belatedly showing form and goals towards the end of last season.
He headed the winner for Liverpool against Blackburn, while also scoring against Everton in a FA Cup semi-final win and the 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the final.
He scored for England at Euro 2012 in a win against Sweden, but he appears to have fallen out of favour at Anfield.
Rodgers signed striker Fabio Borini from Roma earlier this week in his first signing since taking over as Liverpool manager.
He is also planning contract talks to keep Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez at Anfield but he has been less committal when talking about Carroll's future.
The lure of Newcastle's approach cannot be underestimated for Carroll considering the success he enjoyed at his hometown club.
He helped the Magpies back into the Premier League with 17 league goals in the 2009-10 Championship season.
Carroll continued his promising form in the top-flight in the following campaign and made his senior England debut under Fabio Capello in a 2-1 defeat at Wembley by France.
He scored 11 times in 19 league games before becoming the most expensive British player when ex-Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish took him to Anfield..

Fucking hell, Brendan Rodgers has a lot to learn. The first thing he needs to learn is that his team are going to let him down like a bitch. Which means the fans won't be very pleased either. The second thing is that Carroll has got a fair bit of respect for his recent performances, and all he needs to do now if he is clever is make some gayer statement about wanting to stay for the fans and repay them. Then it is done. The team will struggle. Carroll will be sat on the bench. The Kop will start chanting his name. Rodgers will be undermined within weeks not to mention being made to feel like a fucking fool.

I think it was Jonathan Northcroft yesterday who said, 'Those Liverpool fans who claim Carroll could be part of a Plan B are missing the point - with Rodgers' approach there isn't a Plan B'. Well, there should be. That's why Barca - sometimes - are infuriating. And it's not even as if Carroll is bad when he gets the ball at his feet. If Rodgers watches him over a period of time and feels he's unteachable, then fine, but to practically disown the guy before he's even met him is just crazy.

I agree Macca but I suspect Rodgers needs the money from a Carroll sale to impliment his plan A🙁

Ive agreed with every post from Macca in this thread.
Obviously it might be a bit speculative and bullshitty, but the treatment seems to be a bit shitty to me.

Mr Rogers© is pissing me off already. Hes only been here a few weeks.

Two of my favourite players have gone and now it looks like another is to be fucked off without even a chance.

Maxi would have gone anyway and Dirk's time was up, Oncy. I wouldn't be too harsh on Brendan there.

As for all this Carroll stuff, it seems to me that Rodgers' big mistake has been opening the door unequivocally to a loan deal. Schoolboy error in the press conference.

I would be surprised if the manager wants to fuck Carroll off without giving him a chance. I hope Im not proved wrong. I like Andy.

Managers are all fucking stupid. Too smart for their own good.
Mr Rogers© is just the same as all the other fucking wabs.
Lets see how well this all works out for him.

Maxi and Kuyt were deffo gone regardless.

I dont agree with the Carroll bit, but we have to trust Rodgers on how he wants to set up his team.
Starting to talk about undermiming and being fucked off now is going to help. We need to support him, regardless of unpopular decisions.

Still hope Carroll stays mind.

Why would Andy want to go back to that shit tip after they way he was treated last season? He didn't want to leave, was forced to move by Newcastle and still their belled supporters treated him like some kind of Judas. He's on a long contract. I don't blame the lad for wanting to stick it out here.

A great post, fully agree.

There is no foundation for any of this apart from - Newcastle make enquiry, Liverpool fuck them off.
No one has been treated badly or shoddily that we know of.
regards

I hear ya but there is never this much smoke without any fire. It's like when we were persistently linked with the likes of Crouch and everyone convinced themselves it was smoke and mirrors. Never the case.

Carroll may end up staying as Alonso did when he was shopped around but something appears to be going on right now.

Newcastle United move is a ploy to unsettle Andy Carroll and eventually re-sign him for only £12m

It is easy to see why Newcastle United are starting to make it known they are interested in re-signing Andy Carroll from Liverpool. It is a transfer that ticks all the boxes, dots all the Is and crosses all the Ts on Tyneside.

There is nothing Newcastle United fans appreciate more than seeing one of their own playing in the club’s famous black and white stripes and there is nothing more the club’s owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias love more than showing off their business acumen.

To bring Carroll back to Newcastle for anything less than the £35 million they sold him for just 18 months ago would be more than just a feather in Ashley’s cap; it would be so much more.

He may have been mocked and goaded on his return to Tyneside last season, but should Carroll come home he will be given a hero’s welcome.

Newcastle fans are a tribal bunch, passionate about where they live and loyal to their kinsfolk. Few respected Carroll’s decision to leave in January 2011, no matter how much money was on the table.
Most felt betrayed, but all will quickly be forgiven should their home grown No 9 decide he wants to be back among his own people. Carroll was genuinely shocked and hurt by the venom that greeted him on his return last season.

The well-wishers and back-slappers which accompanied his many nights out in his home town since his move to Merseyside did not prepare him for the vitriol that greeted him when he appeared in another team’s colours.
That said, from the moment he left for a British record fee on transfer deadline day, Carroll has privately talked about his desire to return to his former club.

He probably felt it would come towards the end of his career, but there is no doubt he would love to come back, even if it is rather sooner than he anticipated.
Newcastle’s hierarchy are well aware of that desire and their loan move for him is designed to manipulate those emotions.

The offer to Liverpool over the weekend is nothing more than a bluff. They are declaring their interest in a player they know they have no chance of signing on a temporary basis and who they do not have the money Liverpool are looking for to let him leave for a season.

Newcastle’s move is designed to rock the boat. It is a move designed to stir Carroll’s inner yearning for a homecoming in the hope he sets his heart on it and does his bit to make it happen.
If Carroll decides he wants to leave Anfield, but will only accept it if it is a one-way ticket back to Tyneside, Newcastle will have prepared fertile ground for a cut-price offer of around £12 million.

Newcastle may even go as high as £15 million, but the idea has always been to sign Carroll on a permanent basis, not on loan.
The question is will Liverpool let it happen? It is difficult to see how Carroll fits in to new manager Brendan Rogers’ style of football and so their willingness to contemplate sending their most expensive player out on loan.

But they are bound to bristle at the possibility he could go back to the club from whom they bought Carroll two years ago for such a high fee.
The Carroll fee is an embarrassment to Liverpool, but it would be even more humiliating for them if they allowed Newcastle to take him back for far less with a smug smile on their face.

That does not mean it will not happen, but Liverpool would surely rather sell to anyone but the club whose coffers they pumped full of cash when they bought the striker for such an over-inflated sum.

As for Newcastle, the attraction in re-signing Carroll is clear, but that does not mean it actually makes sense.

Papiss Cissé wears the No 9 shirt now and has been prolific alongside fellow Senegal striker Demba Ba.

Alan Pardew’s side play a more attractive, quicker style of football now than they used to with Carroll as the focal point of the team and he would not be guaranteed a starting place with those two as rivals.

But sometimes the heart rules the head in football and the sight of Carroll wearing black and white stripes again at the club that found and nurtured him is a bewitching one for those who never wanted to lose him in the first place.

That is a powerful tool that may yet make the most unlikely of deals happen.

Jeeez! what's with all the Rodgers hating...what's he said that i've missed?

You all seem to have a lot of respect for a guy despite him being one of the prime candidates in assisting a club legend being made redundant. Kenny had a lot of faith in him (too much), even purchasing players who were supposed to compliment his game and found out the hard way. Our goalscoring last year was horrific, the worst since i've been a fan. He's had 18 months to show his worth but decided with two or three months of the season to go and the prospect of a European Championship tournament to pull his socks up. Prior to this his attitude was atrocious for a professional footballer, not mentioning other facets of his game that are well below Premier League level. Can someone tell me the difference between him and Kevin Davies, apart from being younger and possessing an extensive criminal record? Had Fabio Capello not resigned, Carroll would have been nowhere near Poland/Ukraine as he didn't feature in any of the 7 games before he decided to walk.

I could bring up threads as recently as March and April to show what other fans views were of him. I appreciate he is now determined to stay but why couldn't he show that kind of desire at the start of the season for a manager who gambled his footballing future and for a club who broke their transfer record by £12m?

As for feeling sorry for him....seriously? I reserve my sorrow for players who have experienced real hardship and misfortune....Brad Jones, Jody Craddock, Palacios, Muamba. The only thing bothering me is the fee we'll receive for him and I certainly don't want him going out on loan. I trust Brendan 100%, whether Carroll stays or not.

A great post, fully agree.

But the problem with the "Plan B" strategy is that it requires players who are both capable & willing to sit on the bench for long periods with little activity and then perform at their highest level.

Andy Carroll is in no way suited to this.

exactly. Carroll has to be playing regularly otherwise he plays awful and looks unfit. we're not rich enough to have a 35m bench warmer and Carroll wouldn't be happy being one either.

don't get all this bad management crap on here either. Rodgers thankfully doesn't rate Carroll so wants to get rid. what's the problem, all managers do it when they join a new club. avb is doing it at the moment at spurs.

Why are we all pre-empting the new season game plan based on nothing but speculations is beyond me. Roll on August!

Because Y1 we've watched the way Swansea played, and we've listened to Rodgers tell us how he wants us to play.

Mental I know.

Aright extrapolation, just to keep up the discussions but not lower the anxiety for those who would like to give him a chance. I am diffident either way but recouping at least two third of the cost would be nice though.
