SHOCKING NEWS, AGGER SPEAKS OUT (on the official):

Daniel Agger has paid tribute to Kenny Dalglish and identified the manager's 'positive' brand of football as a significant factor in Liverpool's revival.

The Dane admits the Scot has restored confidence to the squad following a difficult start to the campaign and reckons both Dalglish and Steve Clarke's training sessions are now paying dividends on the pitch.

The Denmark international said: "A big part of it is Kenny and Steve Clarke. They have made a major difference.

"But it is also something to do with confidence, because it is the same footballers as before.

"Confidence can win you games and somehow Kenny and Steve has put the confidence back in the players and the belief.

"I think we have shown that definitely in the last four games. It is looking good, although there is still a long way to go."

Agger added: "What has Dalglish done? He is a positive guy. In football terms, he is positive.

"First of all because he likes to play positive football, going forward, and keeping the ball on the ground. and I think he is good among the players.

"The training sessions have been really good and I think everything starts at the training ground.

"If you can get that right you have a big advantage in the games."

The defender refused to comment on whether Dalglish had issued a particular rallying cry but acknowledged that the new methods have inspired a complete upturn on fortunes.

He said: "I think we will keep that inside Melwood. I think he is just himself and his ideas and Steve's ideas fit together.

"It is difficult to say. It is strange but, as I said before, it is the same players."

Yes he said we were "shit" under Hodgson. No, er, shit Daniel

He actually also said that during Hodgson's tenure.

AGGER: `We were shit'

Don't know the origins of these comments though, but I'm impressed with Agger's media work of late. How does he even find the time to play football?

Daniel Agger has delivered a damning verdict of Roy Hodgson's time in charge of Liverpool admitting "we were shit".

Hodgson was sacked after just six months in charge at Anfield after a string of below-par performances and disappointing results.

Agger has made his blunt assessment of Hodgson's tenure after trying to find reasons for former Liverpool star Fernando Torres' wretched form before his £50million move to Chelsea.

The Danish international claims it was difficult for Torres to shine for the Reds because the entire team struggled under Hodgson's short spell in charge.

Agger said: "That is a big question, isn't it? How to explain that. Look at the team - we played awful, we were s***".

"And he [Torres] is a part of the team, so when everything is playing well, he plays a lot better. It is the same for everybody, for me, for Stevie [Gerrard], it is the same.

"When the team are performing, when you look at every single player they are playing better. But when we are losing, everybody is on top of us, everybody is playing bad."

Agger has no complaints over Torres' controversial switch to rivals Chelsea and he backed new signings Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to help fill the void left by Torres' departure.

"All the Liverpool players wish him all the best," added Agger. "Liverpool got a lot of money for him, so why shouldn't we wish him all the best?

"If the player doesn't want to be there any more, there is no reason to keep him. I think everyone at Melwood liked him and still like him because he is a good guy and wish him all the best in a blue shirt, except against us!

"It is a big, big gap to fill, but Carroll has shown he can score goals at the top level. We will have to wait until he is fit, but hopefully him and Luis will be great signing for us, because that will be another thing which will help us towards our targets."

Agger also believes he is close to full sharpness now after putting injury problems behind him.

"I had injuries. I have played a few games in a row now and have started getting the feeling back of playing football," continued Agger.

"I have been in England now for five years and I know it is a tough, demanding game.

"I think I am the first to say how annoying it is to be injured but it is a part of me so I have to adapt to that and have to give everything when I am fit."

I like Agger. I hope he makes the most of Skrtel's injury and cements his rightful place in the first team till summer. I hope he then gets replaced by a new centre back.

Haha. I like Agger. He's a better player than Skrtel and he should be in the first team ahead of him. However, I do think we need a stronger, fitter and more aerially dominant player than him in the long run.

Agger + that stronger aerially dominant CB = a perfect match, no?

I also very much think Agger is way ahead of Skrtel in pecking order already.

IMO Carra is still very much our best defender and has 2 seasons left in him. So if anyone gets replaced, it's going to be Agger/Skrtel.

Erm, so we'd go with just Carra + the new guy? No backup whatsoever?

Heh, that's the impression I got when you said 'we should replace him'. I guess you meant 'replace him in the first XI'.

Anyway I think Agger+'new guy' is the way forward if(and that's a big if) Agger can keep fit. I doubt Carra has two years as a starting CB left in him.

All white Tigers are inbred. Genetic deformities is quite common among them.
