Well, he might be shit. Like Leto, Gonzalez, Nunez, El Zhar and all those other bellends we've picked up for a million or two.

Yeah but I'd trust my judgement over our scouts based on the gems they've unearthed in recent years.

I think in Assaidi we have the first player in quite a while that we signed without really knowing much about him. Our scouts finally doing some work!

We could've gotten his RW buddy Narsingh for next to nothing before PSV nabbed him, Greizmann at Sociedad who is talented and so on and so on.

There is simply no need to spend 15-20M on over-priced British players.

Is Adam Johnson talented? Sure he is, but unless he really does become one of the best wingers in the league he's not worth spending 15-20M on. We are simply not in a position to be wasteful with that kind of money.

The price is the sticking point. At that price I'd have to agree. However, if we can get him for anything up to £10m, I think he'd be a worthwhile gamble. And we already know he can cut it in this league.

Didn't someone say that these "Agent" Twitter accounts were something to do with bookmakers ?

More of the same. No smoke and all that.
Just so you know, this is the same fella that guaranteed that ramirez was having a medical for us last Monday morning at eleven o clock and that he'd leave twitter if it didn't happen. In fairness he did leave twitter but came back a day later.

Ha, damn.

I'm going to bump this in the hope that it'll make it more likely too happen.

I small bit of news though, Scott Sinclair is going to join City before the window is up according to Swansea's first team coach, effectively freeing up Johnson to leave, not that there was any doubt he was going to leave anyway.

Liverpool have emerged as favourites to sign the Manchester City winger Adam Johnson before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Johnson is keen to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer in order to further his England credentials. He missed out on the final squad for the European Championship and feels this was down to his lack of regular first-team action during City's Premier League title-winning season.
Sunderland, Spurs and Everton have all shown a serious interest and are ready to match City's £10m asking price, which would give them a £2m profit on the 25-year-old signed from Middlesbrough in 2010.
Back then Sunderland were also in the running for the North-east winger, but lost out to the spending power and the possibility of winning things at the Etihad. The Wearsiders have the funds in place once again to sign Johnson, with Martin O'Neill eager to add the winger to his squad in this transfer window.
Spurs and Everton remain keen on Johnson, who has been capped 12 times for England, but last night Liverpool became front-runners for his signature when their manager, Brendan Rodgers, was told he has the funds to offer Manchester City.
Daniel Agger, however, is at this point not included in the prospective deal. The City manager, Roberto Mancini, remains a fan of the 27-year-old Liverpool defender, who would cost in the region of £22m if he were to leave Anfield before the end of August, but the deal for Johnson would be a purely financial one.
In an attempt to strengthen his squad Rodgers has also tracked the Barcelona winger Tello, who played in Sunday's 5-1 La Liga win over Real Sociedad.
Johnson, however, is the first choice as Rodgers looks to implement a more fluid style at Liverpool. Moreover it is a move that would appeal to the player, who has been champing at the bit while not becoming the regular starter he wanted to be at Manchester City.

Does Johnson mean the end of the Downing experiement in the front 3, the demise of Stew?

Im not arsed about how much he costs because hes a cracking player.
I wasnt in favour of signing Downing at 20m or Henderson at 17m or Adam at 10m because they represent poor value.
10 to 12m for Adam Johnson would be great.
Every time i see him play he is threatening and positive and he scores and creates even when given limited opportunities.
I would love this transfer.

Correct....and he has something to prove.
Seems like a perfect signing considering the state of our club.

I wish people would quit this "state of our club" bollocks, we're probably what? Within the top 5 big spenders this season and every season for the last couple of years, we finished 8th yeah and we just lost our first game, but we're also Liverpool, we have a massive brand at home and abroad, we have some cracking players like Suarez, Agger, Skrtel, Gerrard and others, and it's like the first week of the season.

Fans and people at the club seriously need to get this fucking chip off their shoulders, it's defeatist and self-pitying crap.

Your right but it was Rafa that drilled this shit into peoples heads while simultaneously spending money like a sailor on shore leave. We have spent horrifically badly in the last 10 years, that is not the same thing as not spending. Christ look at clubs like Everton constantly having to patch together a team of out of position no name players and they dont whinge half as much as some fans do because we arent competing for the top players in the world

Its the managers job to get the best out of the players at his disposal, thats why Rodgers was brought here, not because of his ability to do mega deals with world class players. Our squad is nowhere near good enough to challenge for the title but its a damn sight better than 8th. There are probably 15/16 clubs in the league would fucking love to have the sort of money problems we do.

For what its worth Id prefer Tello to Johnson but Id be happy with either to give us another option
