Adam Johnson

Indeed, we could probably get him in the £10m region, which would be great business. The important thing to remember here is that he can one beat a player, two score goals and three he's performed for a big club already, so won't have Downings hiding syndrome.

Johnson is great. I dot get why he isnt rated. Hes always always dangerous.
And i understand that there are questions on his attitude. But im not sure why? I dont see any evidence of it. Lad is arrogant and wants to play! So?

Hope this is true. We need all our forwards to be a constant source of worry for defenders. Borini might have an eye for a goal, but he doesn't do much with the ball. Downing is, well, Downing.
Johnson and the new Moroccan lad will be great options to have.

As long as by options you mean direct replacements im in.

I dont want to pin my hopes on the 3m Lad from Dutch football, but he and Johnson flanking Suarez instantly adds additional goal threat and makes defences have to think about more than 'stop suarez'

In Johnson, Assaidi, Borini and Suarez we'd have great options.

Well yeah, Johnson would walk straight in. Considering we just spent 10m on Borini, I'm guessing he'll stay first choice.
The Moroccan lad can come off the bench as a sub to make the difference. I don't think we've had a quick skillful direct player coming off our bench in.. I actually don't remember. Does Titi count as one?

Why didn't we just buy a bunch of guys like Osama?

We could've gotten his RW buddy Narsingh for next to nothing before PSV nabbed him, Greizmann at Sociedad who is talented and so on and so on.

There is simply no need to spend 15-20M on over-priced British players.

Is Adam Johnson talented? Sure he is, but unless he really does become one of the best wingers in the league he's not worth spending 15-20M on. We are simply not in a position to be wasteful with that kind of money.

We won't be spending that much cash. At the beginning of the summer it was said he was available for 10, which makes sense, City aren't in a position to bargain.

Yeah, the way they rolled over with Tevez really showed everyone that they can be pushed around.

There a couple of issues here though, Mancini has just come out and said he'll need him because the CL starts soon and they will be playing every 3 days, Aguero has just got a longterm injury (I'm sure they'll buy, but anyway) and this reignites contact with City again, which in turn could see interest in Agger raised.

Spurs are also interested.

Mancinis gripe is that Marwood wont buy any of the players he wants until they sell high earners.
He needs to lose Adebayor, De jong and Johnson if he wants De Rossi and Neymar.
I dont think hed cost a lot to be honest

Just so ou know, Aguero's injury may not be that bad.

He tweeted last night that it isn't "significant".

He doesn't get in their side Keni and hasn't done for a while, he only cost them £6m - £7m (according to City fans, the fee was never disclosed), so there's no justification for doubling his price, 18 months ago maybe they could have done, after benchwarming for the last 12 months they're not really in a position to justify asking for £15m. It'll be more like £10m-£12m I reckon, which is still alot, admittedly.

One issue though is that he signed a new 5 year deal in January, City have alot to pay off, which might work in our favour with them subsidising wages, then again it might put them in a healthier bargaining position. Who knows.

If youre likening Johnson to Tevez we should pay whatever they want.

But you know I'm not.

As for Adebayor, I suspect he's a greater financial burden than Johnson is and that's why they're more eager to do business. If I'm wrong and they'd be willing to offload him for a cut-price deal or loan him out then perhaps it might make the deal more attractive.

That's a really silly comment. I'm not suggesting they're push overs, just that they're not in a great position to bargain with Johnson.

I think his recently signed new deal probably puts paid to that though, he was already getting twitchy in January and they convinced him to stay with a big financial package, so....

Im not arsed about how much he costs because hes a cracking player.
I wasnt in favour of signing Downing at 20m or Henderson at 17m or Adam at 10m because they represent poor value.
10 to 12m for Adam Johnson would be great.
Every time i see him play he is threatening and positive and he scores and creates even when given limited opportunities.
I would love this transfer.

Me too Oncy, I do think there's an element of risk in that he can be hit and miss and he hasn't played much football at all of late, but I do rate him and think if we could get him upto speed he'd be a threat.

Likes to cut in from wide and can score with both feet, has decent pace and likes to take on his player and beat him with skill, he's young and confident and available for cheap. He'd be perfect for us. Bring on the youtube.
