Andreas Bjelland: Brentford sign defender from FC Twente
Brentford have signed defender Andreas Bjelland from Dutch side FC Twente for a club-record fee of 3m euro (£2.1m).
The 26-year-old centre-back, who has won 21 caps for Denmark, has signed a three-year contract with the Championship club.
"Andreas brings a lot of experience to the squad and that is good for us as we have a lot of young players," Bees head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen said.
"He is good defender, but also likes to play from the back."
He added: "Andreas is also a Danish international and it is good for the image of Brentford that we can attract such players."
Bjelland began his career in his homeland with Lyngby and, after a three-year spell with FC Nordsjaelland in which he won the Danish title, he moved to Twente in 2012.
He is the club's fifth signing of the summer.
