World Class

Suarez reminds me a bit of Beardsley (signed by Kenny, that great enemy of inventive players). Brilliant, clever and unpredictable, but you don't count on him to score goals. We need an out-and-out striker.

Yes but you know he'll be wasted if Suarez is still there refusing to pass to him and fluffing his shots

True. Sometimes Suarez does the most stupid things. Against Everton, with three defenders ahead of him, he'd push the ball past a player and seem stunned when it was then hoofed away. I'm not sure if players like him can learn that much about changing to improve their style of play. He can be brilliant, but also exasperatingly silly. But if their was a ruthless striker nearby maybe he'd cause plenty of chances without even realising it.

Thank fuck... Rosco is not the manager.

It appears he will start the recovery by firing the only decent attacking player we have...

How about world class talent - but just not at finishing.

Part of the problem is most teams, even at anfield are pretty certain that random microbes floating in the air will be able to effectively mark Downing & Kuyt out of having any important influence. So they can concentrate on marking Suarez and not creasing over with laughter every time Andy Carroll falls over when he has an opportunity to shoot on goal.

Hopefully he signs one to match suarez this summer to prove he's such a fan of inventive players.

suarez is like torres at AM. i.e. he has world class potential but he isn't world clas, yet. suarez has all the tools needed to be world class but he needs to be far more effective than he currently and he certainly needs to get into double figures with regards to goals. he isn't the main striker so I'm not expecting 1 in 2 but I'm certainly expecting 1 in 3.

Having a 'finisher' beside him is only part of the problem and not the biggest part. It's our 'tactics' or lack of them that's the problem. Suarez can usually expect to get the ball either with his back to goal (and about 7 opposition players between him and goal) or pinged/floated into a crowded box from a wide position.

fishing for 'likes' modo? 😉
Not working as well as I thought it would.... 😉

But he's world class.

I mean literally carrying Uruguay to a Copa America title, becoming player of the tournament in a competition where the Argies and the Brazilians where favourites.
It's just one of the few things that makes him world class.

Let's put him on the transfer list and see who calls.

If we had a proper striker up front with him that proper striker would be wasted because Suarez would be busy trying to beat everyone before fluffing a shot.
Yeah, Forlan really had his game completely destroyed playing with Suarez.

The wummage on here isn't what it used to be.

Remember when we had Brendan, Glock, Roger Rederer, ardja and people like that?

Rosco and others just can't pull it off, they're like middle aged women trying to act like porn stars for their husbands. Doesn't matter how much they try, they're just not slutty, it's not their fault.

Rosco, get out of that strap on and make us a cup of tea will ya? There's a good lass.

Hahhahaha

I'd agree to a certain extent but I'm certain that we would be in the shitter without him.

Considering we win more frequently and score more frequently when hes out of the team, I would say thats, debatable.

And we wouldnt have had a distracting sideshow if he was a decent professional

you could argue the same about gerrard. what are your thoughts on gerrard?

Define world class.
Scoring goals for a start.
Cissé, Baros, Crouch were not world class and they scored more than Suarez.

If you need support from another striker to score more goals, you're not a world class striker.

Of course it's debatable but if you think we would be playing at Wembley a week on Saturday without him you'd be wrong.
