Why don't we just build the side around our best players and ensure that collectively the team scores goals and win games instead of worrying about which single player may or may not hit that 20?

you mean like we did last season, only to throw away that approach this season? yeah, we should do that.

Neil staunchly defends Johnson to the hilt,a player who costs nearly as much as Suarez.
I find his attack on Suarez a bit weird.

'suarez is rubbish' - that's attacking suarez.
all I've said is suarez isn't prolific and given his talent he can be more effective than he currently is. anyone want to dispute that?

I'm a little scared to answer that neil.

I'm expecting bigger things of all our attacking players next season. I think suarez and carroll should be looking to get 15+ goals next season (each). I'm hoping we buy better attacking players that give good service to the strikers so they don't have to drop so deep to pick up the ball and my hope is if suarez play in and around the penalty box he will score more goals (like he does for his national team).

my 'constructive' critisism shouldn't be confused for dislike, I think suarez is a very talented striker and we're lucky to have him.

The problem is that if we sell Suarez, we might struggle to attract a similar calibre of player here. Top players want to play with top players, and he's just about the only one we have left. Not only would it signal that we're a selling club, it would leave us with the most uninspiring group of players we've had in decades.

In the real world, we should count ourselves lucky that Suarez came here in the first place, and do our very best to hold onto him. But if we really do plan to sell him, we'd better make damn sure we have some top quality replacements lined up beforehand. After all, we've wasted much larger sums than we'd get for Suarez before now, and I'd hate to see our biggest asset replaced by Henderson and Downing mkII.

I'm not sure Suarez is genuinely world class but I do know he'd look slightly better if the other 5 members on the front 6 didn't include Carroll, Hendo, Spearo, Kuyt and Maxi like they did on Sunday.
Roy Race would struggle with that shower.
