An interesting rumour regarding Liverpool here. Sky Sport Italia (yes, them again) say that the Reds have had an offer of 16 million pounds for exciting young striker Keita Balde Diao rejected by Lazio. It is said the Serie A club are holding out for 24 million pounds for the former Barcelona youth team player.

Only link with Napoli I've seen so far is Callejon, but he's 27 so not sure if that's who you had in mind. Maybe Insigne? Still 21; and played on the LW/RW instead of central striker under Benitez (2012/13: 5 goals, 7 assists as a support striker; 2013/14: 3 goals, 10 assists as a wide forward). He was pretty unimpressive for Italy in the World Cup, though you could say that about a lot of his Italian team mates.

At an event near Dimaro last night, the local striker was insulted by members of the audience, then jeered when he refused to answer questions afterwards.

Strange tidings in Dimaro. Last night at a fan event, Lorenzo Insigne was part of a group of players available for questions and statements. Normally that would be something met eagerly by Napoli fans, as he's been the city's favorite son, especially after an excellent season in the first team this past year.

This time, though, he was not welcomed so warmly. The fans were still irritated by Italy's poor World Cup performance, and many turned on Insigne as the club's only representative in the side. It was hardly his fault; Insigne was only put on the pitch once by Cesare Prandelli, late on against Costa Rica when it was too little, too late, and the side failed despite his best efforts.

The fans repeatedly jeered Insigne, calling him scugnizzo (a local term for a street urchin) and monello (naughty child) as it came to be his turn to speak to the gathered audience. When offered the chance to speak, Insigne refused, and the crowd went from bad to worse.
After several minutes of boos, jeers, and some truly hideous words thrown at Insigne, a more reasonable portion of the crowd started chanting "Lorenzo, Lorenzo in support of the diminutive striker. Once the crowd was finally silenced after several more minutes, an incensed Aurelio De Laurentiis took the microphone.

"Do you want to win? I said that I win the championship together with you, I asked the fans to be close to this team when the players took the field and that they should always be applauded . It is depressing for a player to be challenged like this after a difficult time. If we want to win, I ask you to stand beside them. "

This treatment of Insigne by the fans, for something that isn't even remotely his fault, is infuriating. This is a player who always gives his all on the pitch, be it for the partenopei or for the Azzurri. To belittle and demean him in such a way at an event that is supposed to celebrate Napoli players is reprehensible, and those involved in what happened should be ashamed.

Napoli is where it is right now in very large part because of players like Lorenzo Insigne. Don't treat a hero of the city like garbage. Be better than that. Be the kind of fans this club deserves. Be amazing, be loud, be impressive. Don't be assholes.[/article]

Think he meant Lazio.
 
He's properly two-footed by the looks of it too. Like I said, runs, dribbles, shoots like a raw CR7.

The goals in that vid are all a bit special given he only made about 15 appearances last year.

A really exciting prospect.
 
Do we need another exciting prospect though ? And especially one that's going to cost big money ?

We need an established striker if we are going to get Top 4 and also do well in the CL this season.
 
I thought Origi was meant to be out long term striker project

I'd rather get a striker who's shown at least some consistency
 
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but he (Keita) looks like someone with huge potential who might just be improving at a rate of knots.

If he's scoring goals like that in his first senior season it suggests to me he's ready to score 10-15 right now and more next season.
 
Hmmm. It's a massive risk at such a crucial time.

If we do go for him, hopefully it pays off
 
Keita wont happen according to the Italian journos. The Lazio president wont sell unless they get 30 mill.
We have apparantly been scouting him for 2 years.
 
If we're that interested we should just pay asking and get it done. Money is no excuse given we've had £75m to spunk from Suarez.
 
@Moley_LFCDT: Listening to the podcast, it seems to be that Tim Vickery got a phone call from a agent to tell him LFC has lined up a big name player
 
We've got no one big lined up

Well get a good player I've no doubt, but not a big name
 
Was listening to this last night, he was pushed for a name but didn't give it and said he rarely gets phone calls from agents
