The Reina problem.

Ter Stegen as Count mentioned is one of the best young keepers around. Would cost a fortune mind.

Butland is not the answer and Lloris is overrated.

Brilliant goalkeeper that Ter Stegen is.

I cant remember the last time Reina made a save when i thought fuck me how did he do that which is what you get from a top goalkeepers. It is just too easy to score against him these days.

He saved 69% of the shots he saved last season (11th best in the league - http://forum.ea.com/uk/posts/list/1821501.page) which is the average for goalkeepers who started more than 10 games. Just shows where he is at now really - average. The top keeper in the Premier League last season, in save percentage terms, was David de Gea, who stopped 78% of the shots he face. Stats from this article - http://www.eplindex.com/16070/decline-pepe-reina-stats-analysis.html.

His save percentage from the year before is the same. 69% with foster begovic and even gomes having a better save percentage rate - http://tomkinstimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Percentage-of-shots-saved.jpg

Here is another article on the top goalkeepers in the different leagues - http://www.whoscored.com/Blog/assbsgyoxkq9l1psq1imzg/Show -
No surprise that Ter Stegen is the best in germany.

Signing Lloris was a big mistake. Friedel has been doing really well for them and is well liked by the other players. Now they either have to drop him, with all the risks that will involve, or put Lloris' nose out of joint when he's only just arrived.

What is the point of getting in Man citys scouts? We want to get in their fucking owners!

Reina hasnt been playing well for a while and he does not look arsed it is true but IMO he is still a very good keeper and if he can snap out of it still one of the very best. Whoever wrote that fake article is a gaylord.

I'm loving the 80's vernacular! I agree though Reina is still well skill.

The Spaniard also looks uncomfortable with Rodgers’ style of encouraging his defenders to pass to and receive the ball from the keeper.

That isn't how I've seen it, but if that was the case it'd be a mystery how he still keeps getting picked as number 2 for Spain. He's supposed to have been brought up playing that way. Particular goalkeeping decision-making during games is one thing, but he ought to be thriving in this system.

An Indian restaurant in the Washington DC suburbs which I've been to with friends (of both sexes) a couple of times rejoices in the name of the "Bombay Gaylord". I've never dared to ask what they meant by it.

There are loads of 'gaylord' indian restaurants in London. Well I defers know a couple. I think it's fairly common.

Very true mate, and it has already started. Last week Deschamps said Lloris was unhappy wity the comments AVB made about Friedel being a certain to start the next game.

Interesting. Maybe Lloris wasn't AVB's choice and was forced on him by Levy? Either way, I'd have thought AVB was exactly the kind of manager you *don't* want dealing with such a flammable situation.

Can this young keeper cope with the physicality of English league?

the gayer had similar hype.

He is known for his bravery and stronger than degea he has a bigger frame degea is taller but skinny. He had his two front teeth knocked out in a training ground collision with his gk coach! I think he would be well suited to English football.

Is save percentage a good stat to judge a keeper on?
It is only one way of judging a gk of course but i think it is a better method than judging gk on clean sheets which relies more on the team.
Wayne hennesy kept very few clean sheets last year but still had a better save percentage than Reina. Its no coincidence that degea and hart are number 1 and 2 on save percentages in England. Buffon in italy and Neuer and Ter Stegen in Germany. These are considered the top goalkeepers in the world.

Valdes & Stekelenberg ranks last in Spain and Italy. Bit surprising they are so low but i have always thought these are two vastly over rated players. Interesting to note Krul is no number 1 for holland now.

Gaylord is a very well known clothing brand in the Far East (and maybe India too for all I know).

Save percentage is highley misleading stat. By using that stat Hennessey is as good a goalkeeper as Reina, Krul and Howard. While Jones and Doni are better than Reina.

If its to be any use at all you have to see it in corrollation with other stats aswell.
We gave away the fewest shots on target last season, yet Reina conceeded a goal pr game and only saved 69% of the shots. That is a worry.

Also depends on how many clear cut opportunities the opponents had.

Also found that article to be talking bollocks, considering how comfortable Reina has looked when dealing with horrible back passes aimed at the goal, with speed.

Is save percentage a good stat to judge a keeper on?
Like most stats it's mis-leading. Say for example the team has completely dominated the game scoring 5 goals and the opposing team has only 1 shot on goal. If they score then it's 0% saved but if it's saved then it's 100%. In this case it's irrelevant since you've won 5-1.

Now let's say it's a very tactical game and it's 0-0 with both teams having no shots. At injury time, they have a shot on goal. If they score then the 0% is very relevant and if they don't 100% is also relevant.

So basically it's a load of bull, since stats don't include context. Anyone that says it's worrying that Reinas stats aren't that great for the past few seasons don't understand statistics.

We'll be targetting a replacement who will vastly under-perform for no more than £30,000 a week.

We come not to play. The future is a muscle you don't have. Mighty Red is fun and fantastic as the mascot of the Liverpool Family.

It's never so simple, but if we can get someone like Al-Habsi or Vorm for £25k a week, who are currently performing better than Reina, then I've no problem with it.

Ding! Someone else said al habsi

From now on if we all put 50p in the al habsi box we might have enough to buy him in three million years. I already owe 2 quid.
