The Reina problem.

I think we have a lot more to worry about than Suarez, namely the others attackers around him who aren't up to his level. If they were, then Suarez wouldn't be thought to be a problem.

And vice versa lads. If Suarez put his chances away we wouldn't need another striker

Reina is not really a problem is he? He's not without flaws but there's not many keepers out there I'd rather have.

There's different types of striker Ross, Zola wasn't exactly prolific yet many consider him to be one of the best players to play in this league.

I don't remember Zola missing ten chances a game. And he did a least play his teammates in.

But this is a Reina thread.

Reina is still good enough, but he's not as good as he was. And I don't see him getting better as he gets older and less agile.

To whoever said they think he just needs to sort out his head - do you not think his declining physical abilities force him into decisions earlier making him more likely to make a mistake?

There were rumours that we were in for Butland? Could it be rumours started by us to give him a kick up his arse?

Ross has given me a totally whole new look at rumours.

I don't know Macca. I like Reina; but if he's (a) getting worse and (b) unmotivated then there's no point in keeping him. Let's see how he does as the season progresses.

In his first few seasons he was amazing, never seemed to make a mistake.

Last 2 seasons some mistakes have crept it, it's infuriating when it happens especially with keepers

All keepers make mistakes these days, would prefer to stick with him.

Czeh was awful for a few seasons and then back end last season helped chelski win euro cup, think pep still has some quality left in him.

What early decision did he have to make that screwed up his catch last night then?
He completely messed up the catch, most likely due to his lack of concentration. He didn't have to move his body across goal or run to cover or go up for a catch. The ball was right in front of him.
He needs to get his head sorted. It's not his age or weight, at least for now.
You'll be right one day on this issue once he ages more, but right now it's not his physical conditioning.

Under your theory, you'd have to question the top medics and physio's that we employ, as if it was that obvious an issue, they would have either forced him to lose some of his muscles or sold him off by now.

Tbf if you're not in peak physical shape you're not mentally fit for 90 mins of concentration of the type you need in a match either.

He's in peak physical shape, I was answering the suggestion that he's too heavy and slow, and is past his peak. I just can't agree.

Alright, I worded it wrong.
His conditioning for an athlete is great, so he's at his peak in terms of current conditioning, though I know you disagree with that.
He more than likely physically peaked a few years back, but he's not running around for 90 minutes. He's still one of the quickest goalie's around.
I mean, if he can do it:

He was one of the best in the world, got older, got wiser, got heavier, but continued to be one of the most consistent in the league.
I'm hoping Reina can emulate that.

He still makes great saves, positions himself extremely well, too.
He won't be the talking point once our attack's sorted.
