To be honest I think this is very much spot on. That is however IMO not saying he wasn't lucky not to get sent off. I think he was indeed.
You simply can't risk the health of your opponents with plays like that. The same logic appears when players are seeing straight red for flying in studs high even if they don't get any contact. And Suarez made contact alright, not anywhere near the ball.
Skrtel on two occasions also looked a tad too fired up. Played another strong game but his yellow was blatant (and far more evident than Spearing's straight red at Fulham) and he almost kicked Friedel in the head as well.
