2 in 2 and some promising signs of strking up an exciting partnership with Suarez. Very good start for Sturridge.

I think he might frustrate us at times with missing some easy chances like the one he had to make it 2-2 but overall it's looking good.

Best photo I could find. Good lad.

He looks a real goal threat which is a pleasant surprise.
It was almost weird watching a player in a Liverpool-shirt that actually looked a proper goal threat from the off.

He shoots, he scores. (Well apart from that glaring miss of course).

I know Suarez has scored plenty already and is a wonderful player but he's never had that killer-instinct in front of goal imo.

It was nice to see a Liverpool player hungry to get a rebound first. He'll score lots of goals and he'll miss lots, but he'll do good for us, I'm sure.

How was it a glaring miss? Tight angle, getting closed down. If he scored it would have been a magnificent finish, not a simple one

You would at least expect your poacher to hit the target from 3 yards out. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh there, but I thought he should've done a lot better.

He will miss a lot more in the coming games so no need to pick on just one. The key thing is he actually looks to score. He gets the ball and his instinct is to shoot. Even Suarez considers a pass occassionally.

We need to speculate more often. Just look what happened yesterday when Gerrard, high up the pitch, pressured Cleverly and hit the ball on target.

He should've hit the target, but it wasn't exactly a "sitter". He played really well when he came on. He was running in for that rebound the second the ball left Stevie's foot. We need someone who can read the game as well as that. He also made some great runs, and could've had another goal on one occasion had (Suarez, I think?) passed it to him instead of going for goal himself.

Strikers miss chances! Great strikers miss chances too. It is when strikers are afraid to miss, and don't even make the right runs and put themselves in the position to miss that should instil concern. Sounds cliched, but it is true. His instincts to get into space thus far have been exceptionally good. So far Stur has got 2 goals in about 100 minutes of football for LFC. That'll do rightly.

I am not blaming him for not scoring, would've almost been too good to be true, but it wasn't a good finish.

It's alright though, he's done more than enough already and certainly looks a good signing so far.

Exactly this.

A lot of his chances seemed to come to the left of goal and he was looking to use his left foot (naturally). Very difficult to create the correct angle for a goal from there and it might have been a different story if he was coming in from the right.

Regardless, it was brilliant to see him in those positions and to see a Liverpool striker stretching a defense with his pace and being direct. I think these qualities are a good compliment to Suarez's natural inclination to drop deeper and you could already see Sturridge trying to exploit that space.

Could be a good partnership this one and something similar to what was envisaged with Torres when Suarez was first signed.

I agree with the general point, but I think you'll find he will be looking for Luis as often as he looks to shoot.

I thought he should have had a crack with his first involvement of the game, but he tried to find Suarez with a tight pass from just outside the box.

Correct.
