That's assuming Mancini stays. Ireland is still young with perhaps the potential to improve making him a far more saleable asset than Dunne who was hitting 30 and never considered a top player.
Perhaps I'm overestimating City here, but 5M to a direct rival sounds mental to me.

I agree. They might sell him to Birmingham or something for 6-8. If Liverpool wanted him he'd only be sold for substantially more, if at all.
Talk coming out of the club is that Mancini has been given the gig for next year.
You make an excellent point regarding the age of the two players with regard to their value.
If he were to be available for anything under £8/9, I would love us to be in for him.
