SOooo Van Persie.

I am a little baffled by this. It is similar to classless Chelsea supporters creaming themselves over Torres (A Liverpool Player!) and even copy the fucking shankly gates into the flags. Has the football lost all its pride and soul? Would any of you cream yourself if he came here, even if we aren't such fierse rivals as they are?

Anyway, I think they will still score a few goals from undeserved spotkicks this year, even if it is Van persie and not Rooney taking them. Tehy willprobably score a few more from free kicks. And Van persie will score more and Rooney less if he is moved further back. The problem they had last time when they moved him to CM was that noone was able to score. Now they might have solved that one. Unless of course Vermaelen accidentally break his leg.

Is it ok to say I couldn't give a flying fuck? Another utter twunt joins a team of twunts. Big deal. Hate the lot of them. I hope this weakens Arsenal even more, deeply upsets their fans (sorry for your boy though Mojo, although you only have yourself to blame, he should be tearing his hair out with us over stadium issues and our piss-poor squad) and they fail dismally. I also hope he has a Torres-esque start to his career with them.
Think I need my morning coffee.

bad typo but made me chuckle - for a second.

I'm afraid Rooney and van Persie will be a perfect match for each other. Both can pass and both can score.

It's a poor signing; he's 29, he has a poor injury record, he's not the ideal strike partner* for Rooney AND they had enough attacking options, what they don't have is central midfield options.

We won't know for sure how Rooney and Van P complement each other until we see them together but I'm not convinced they'll gel. If they don't gel straight away is Ferguson going to shunt Rooney out to the left again like he did when Ronaldo was utilised as a CF. If they do mess Rooney around to accommodate Van P then they're just swapping Rooney's potency for Van P's.

Obviously United will challenge on all fronts this season, their attacking options are amongst the best BUT their wide players are no better than decent and their CM looks very weak in comparison to other top European and English opposition.

You reckon Nani, Young and Valencia are no better than decent

Not always as simple as that Ossi, Lampard & Gerrard have both been amongst the best CM's in Europe for the last 10 years but look very average when they play together. Owen & Fowler played together on a few occasions - it didn't work, Koscielny & Vermaelan are both decent defenders individually but as neither of them attack the ball and both prefer "sweeping" their partnership is very dodgy. Lots of other examples of good/great players not gelling.

Young is average and most United fans have accepted that, Valencia is consistent and a threat but compared to previous United wide men, Giggs, Kanchelskis, Ronaldo, Beckham he's not at their level and never will be. Nani can be good but he's inconsistent and rarely performs well in big games.

I would love us to have their roster of wide men BUT compared to United wide men of the past and compared to the best wide men around none of them are world beaters.

As already said, Utd's been "poor" for years and they've been winning titles and reaching CL finals like it's nothing. They've now added Kagawa and Cleverly will provide another option along with Carrick who does a job (at times well).

Fergie could get Everton top three through sheer force of will. The fucking auld cunt.

His alchemy skills are unbelievable. When you compare United's and City's squad from last season it is remarkable that United came so close to winning the league. If we had a CM of Cleverly, Carrick and a 38 year old Scholes we would not be happy.

Wenger said today that 'RvP has already been replaced' (Giroud and Podolski). Quite a few posters were saying this when they bought those two - it was obvious he was gone. I guess now we need to see how those two replace the 40 goals they've lost. Cazorla will chip in with 5-10, but that's still 30 goals they've lost from last year.

Selling the 29 yr old prick for 24M pounds rather than carrying a moping cunt all season then losing him for nothing when he would have signed for Utd in 5 months is a great deal. Of course it fucking is.
Am I missing something?
We could do with paying closer attention ourselves.

They've sold their sold their three best players in 2 years ... Great! I do agree. (Good financial sense though)

They came in, became good, and then became to good for their own best.

It is abysmal towards the fans and the club to move to a rival like that. But I don't expect Van P to be a decent chap. Dutch prick.

They never used to win anything before they sold them though.

Ha - they're in real funk.

Great football? Check.
Great manager? Check.
Great stadium? Check.
Great talent - either through youth academy or through purchases? Check.

They have everything ... and yet, 7 years without a trophy ... I wonder how they'll snap out of it.

There's some rumors that Chicharito is going the other way. I think he'd be brilliant for Arsenal.

Wellbeck won't play much this year until RvP gets injured.

England will be stuck with Rooney and Bent again then as no other decent English striker will be playing enough

Wellbeck signed a contract last week, I bet he did not know Robin was coming 😛

One other thing to mention, notice how this transfer is the complete opposite of our 'blueprint'? You know, the one where we'd never pay big money for a bloke who's 29 and coming off his best season. Unlike the team who, like, you know, have won most of the trophies on offer for the last 20 years. I have no idea what works best, just a thought that's all.

The only times I can think that they've spent big money on older players is Berbatov and Veron. Every other big signing has been a young player.

I'm sure I'm missing loads though.
