SOooo Van Persie.

Seems a bit expensive for a 29 year old, nearly out of contract, injury prone twat. He could, and should, be very good. We shall see.

Arsenal have done well out of this.

Yet again, they've sold on someone who's already peaked, for a fortune, with only one year left on his contract. There are lessons to be learned out of this.

Arsenal have done extremely well out of it, but if Robin fires enough goals for United to win the title then he would have been worth it.

Totally depends on the Van Persie they get. The one of last year. Or the one from all the years before that. While still a great player, way too much time on the treatment table. Bit like our Daniel. Just without the dogged loyalty.

Arsenal have done well in terms of fee. But selling your topscorer, captain and superstar a year after Nasri and Fabregas, most Arsenal fans I know are pissed. They leave because of Wengers philosophy, or lack of progression.

You can learn a lesson about the fee but not about how to hold on to your best players, or winning thropies. Wenger seem unable to break out of his path and Cazorla dont tell me otherwise tbh.

Song is probably on his way out aswell.

Missed the memo on that. We sooooooooo should have signed him instead of Downing. We would love him. He'll be great this year if he settles just like Silva did. He has plenty of caps for Spain but an injury halted him there a season back. One year he was the only non Barca or Madrid player to make the team of the season.

I feel for my 9 year old. Massive Gunners supporter and Van Persie is (was) his favourite player ever.
Told him the news this morning on the drive to school, but fair play to him he said he'll still support Arsenal regardless.

How the fuck did you manage to get your son supporting arsenal?!

I know. And they've got Wellbeck and Hernandez.

Doesn't Ferguson know you're only allowed to pick 11 players?

There's some rumors that Chicharito is going the other way. I think he'd be brilliant for Arsenal.

Wellbeck won't play much this year until RvP gets injured.

He obviously started out being a Red but then a combination of his grandad and Fifa 07/08 got him turned.
I still to this day cannot understand it though. I mean after all, my 'almost' 3y/o daughter knows daddy's a Red and even says she loves Liverpool, inspite of him trying to get her over onto his side.
My 15y/o boy is a Red too.

It's a poor signing; he's 29, he has a poor injury record, he's not the ideal strike partner* for Rooney AND they had enough attacking options, what they don't have is central midfield options.

We won't know for sure how Rooney and Van P complement each other until we see them together but I'm not convinced they'll gel. If they don't gel straight away is Ferguson going to shunt Rooney out to the left again like he did when Ronaldo was utilised as a CF. If they do mess Rooney around to accommodate Van P then they're just swapping Rooney's potency for Van P's.

Obviously United will challenge on all fronts this season, their attacking options are amongst the best BUT their wide players are no better than decent and their CM looks very weak in comparison to other top European and English opposition.

If it disrupts them in any way, shape or form, I'm thrilled.
Arsenal definitely got the better deal though.

Does no one else think that fergie may persist with playing rooney in cm as he has in the past?

I think it's the obvious answer to why he would do this, despite it not being popular & somewhat of a waste, it's fucking effective.

Yes.
Arsenal have made over 120m in player sales this last 7 years.
So as you all seem to think this is another great deal for them.

I bet their fans who havnt sniffed a trophy for that long disagree.
