Rub of the Green with Mason and Webb

It a pen.

Regardless of dont needing help from the refs. As we've learned from these last two games. When you play the big boys in the league, decisions like these will influence the game. It went in City and Chelseas favour and fucked us over. In theses tight games thats enough to lose a game.

We shouldn't be relying on 50/50 decisions that could go either way, we should be good enough to put games beyond the refs interference, and we're not.
If that 'foul' had been given against eto'o in our box, we'd have gone up the wall. Granted, eto'o shouldn't have been on the pitch really, but we need to stop letting games go to a position where we need the ref to win it for us, not our players.

Cos yeah we've been winning games all season because of refs. Fuck off you bellend.

Smith is not ready. What an abysmal performance, don't fucking care if he's a kid.
If he's a kid put him in the reserves where he belongs.
Cissokho would have been a better option.

Jesus Christ he was shit.

He was playing as the LWF of a 4-3-3, making his debut against Chelsea. He's a left back. Would Cissokho have looked good there?

You fucking twat.

I like it when we play a new, young player. I just don't like it when they turn out to be a bit shit. As debut's go that was a shocker. Let us all hope he learns from it.

I didn't think it was a penalty in the slightest.

Amazed that there are pages of fucking posts about a half-block, yet Skrtel's continued shirt-pulling barely gets a mention.

I lied. I'm not amazed at all.

You're entitled to have your views just like others ate entitled to have theirs.

You might have missed it but "Skrtel's continued shirt-pulling" has been mentioned here time and again over the last few weeks and everybody said he must stop it. Let me just comment that his shirt-pulling is not something that others don't do and is not worse that Terry's handling of Suarez in set pieces (did you think that case was a penalty?).

You shouldn't be amazed that people complain about shit referees. I bet all fans in the world do it. It's a natural thing. I think your criticism of us having such complains is actually quite amazing.

Coutinho was gash.
Johnson was disgraceful but hey 18 million for his forward prowess.lol.
We have some awful footballers in our squad.
Our bench was horrendous but I've a feeling Rodgers was playing the old look what I've got trick by bringing on Smith.
The game was crying out for Alberto but Rodgers was looking out for his January transfer kitty I reckon.
Anyways we were shit and deserved nothing from the game.

Uuuh people have mentioned Skrtel's shirt pulling non-stop for a while - and that's why no one complained about Suarez's 'attempt' on Thursday when Lescott pulled him. It's part and parcel of the game until you get caught ...

I can play the game this game though! I am amazed no one has said over the last few weeks things along the line of "Skrtel has got to play the man and stop focusing on the shirt," or "He's going to give up a penalty soon with that shit" ... I lied. I'm not amazed at all.

Gary Neville said it was a definite penalty and called out Webb numerous times ... Quite a few other commentators who aren't biased said the same thing on this 'half-block' ... Oh well, I guess they're biased Liverpool fans like us! 🙂

Why are all of you so up early?

It's 1pm here and I am struggling to keep awake.

Bollocks to us.

No problem with the Suarez penalty decision.
They're never given.
Eto's tackle was a shocker and 5 minutes later it's a sending off

Do you always feel you have the need to differentiate your opinions from the rest of the forum ? You know - like some sort of sage-like know-it-all football guru ?

Or is it because you play semi-pro, hence you feel you have more first-hand knowledge of the game than the rest ?

A half block?

Really? Ok.

Half block. Modern football is evolving to fast these days.
Next you'll be hearing commentators praising players who can pull off a well timed half block.

"Wonderful from Eto'o there, saw him coming and barged into him. Well timed half block and Chelsea can continue their attack. Even Webb must applaud this magnificent half block attempt. Text book stuff from Eto'o. Lovely!"

In Gaelic football its called " the third man tackle" and Chelsea employed it on a number of occasions yesterday. The one on Suarez was a definite penalty and only Ryan and Mourinho saw it differently.

Oscar did it to Sterling as well late in the game when he was tracking Hazzard.

Problem is we've a got a Lucas making silly challenges all over the pitch and in our own box. Could have been a pen on Hazard and he should have been sent off a the end. Goes both ways. We can blame the ref against City but not yesterday

Hang on a minute. Hazard was going down on any contact. If that's a pen by Lucas then so is Terrys climb all over Suarez. Yes, he could / should have been sent off for his reaction to Oscar's challenge, but then if thats the case, Oscar should have seen red for his late, jump tackle with scissor motion on Lucas.

I don't think people are blaming the ref for the result. We deserved to be behind. BUT if the ref misses a stonewall penalty in the last few mins, then we are entitled to think we might have got a slightly ill deserved draw.

However, if you want to take it further back. Eto'o should have gone off for his knee high, late, over the top tackle on Henderson. I dont care whether we scored from the free kick or whether it was the first minute. Those are the rules, we might say the rules aint right but that's a different discussion.

So he gets sent off, we score and they're down to 10 men for the next 88 mins. Do you really think the result would have been the same? He certainly wouldn't have scored the second goal, and he wouldn't have been on the pitch to foul Suarez in the box.

That's not blaming the ref. That's looking at what could have happened if Webb had got the main decisions correct*

*That's also the view of many, many independent football pundits - who cares what Mourinho says, he's a bigger troll than Rosco.

Refs are human and will make mistakes. But that is supposedly the best ref in this country who's on the FIFA elite list and will probably go to the World Cup. A bloke who "missed" De Jong's assault in biggest game in the World!

Ask yourself this, if you got that many big calls wrong in your job, how long would you last in the job let alone at the top of your profession?

A shocker? What exactly was it that made it a shocker?

Did he miss a sending off or a blatant pen? That sort of shocker? Or was he just played out of position in his first game when we were huffing and puffing to get back in the game?

Shocker, as you can probably tell, is not a fair reflection...
