Brendan Rodgers insists there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to enable the manager to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2012-13 season.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of players during pre-season and, while keeping his targets close to his chest, the manager is confident he will get the players he desires.
Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com: "There's a lot of great work going on, obviously with the board and Ian Ayre in particular doing a lot of work behind the scenes. I've got regular contact going with our American owners and, in particular, Mike Gordon from Fenway Sports Group.
"Obviously when it's a club like Liverpool prices are always increased and so on, but I always felt it was important by the beginning of the season we could have the squad we want - and certainly by the end of the transfer window I would hope that will be the case.
"There is lots of speculation. I've seen hundreds of names linked with Liverpool and there's very few of them that were even close to coming here or we have even looked at.
"Unfortunately for the supporters they've got to read it and put up with it. But the message is there is a lot of work going on, on a number of deals and hopefully we can get those completed by the end of August."

Delighted to hear theres a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Not so happy to hear that Ian Ayre is part of it.

i'm not arsed how hard they're working on signing dempsey.

in fact, i'd prefer it if they were being lazy.

i'm not sure what this message says really? What would you expect from a team like liverpool, not working hard behind the scenes. its not the working hard I am worried about, its the end product.

What does Brendan mean by all this ? that all of the players we have been linked with are just all rubbish links ? - I don't get it. Anyway I don't expect him to say who we are interested in but this just adds to the mystry. I cannot even imagine what our team will look like come the start of the season.

Can you imagine eleven human beings on some grass?

Yes I can Onions but unfortunately what they will look like - no, what ability they will have - no. There are no comforting words coming from him with regards to Agger, and Skrtel and also what his plans are for Bellamy (who I hope does not leave our club). All he said was there are lots of talks, and that basically all the stuff in the press is a load of shit. Then there is the continuing saga with Carroll which is being played out in the media like some Hollywood movie. Its daily non-stop shit coming out.

Vlad your right - I should know better but its worrying on another front - which is even if we sign some really good players by the end of the transfer window - what time does that leave for the new members to fit in ? - it's going to be very difficult and especially with a new manager in place.
