I personally love the banter on this site and generally it's a great place to visit but sadly you gt nobheads. In all their guises.You get the pretentious ones, the stuck-in-their-ways ones, the ignorant ones, and the general pricks; all of which you can't argue with due to their own idiocy and lack of rational debate. I just don't wnt the mods to get 50 messages a day complaining and get sick of it. They pay for the privilage of us all being cunts. We need to cut them slack and not run to teacher everytime there's a disagreement. I'm not sure if some people forget the fact tht the "report to mod" button actually has to be reviewed and takes time away from their families and their lives. It would be so much easier to just say "fuck it" and bin off the site. Sheik, Piedro, and others have dropped from being full time mods because they're sick of the time consuming nature of a few individuals pressing the repost button over and over again. I remember it going on fucking loads when Lech and rafapm (i think) continually went at it hammer and tong; i'd imagine it's only got worse since rage and rashid
 
I think i've pressed that infamous button a max of 10 times in total, All of them were on the same day concerning the same poster (Lech). The message was pretty much the same each time, "He's a cunt please ban him".

I now appreciate that this was very childish and I'm whole heartedly sorry for the problems that i caused.

As a reformed poster, i strongly urge people not to press the report to mod button.

I think using the 'Report Post' function, or sending repeated private messages to the mods begging for people to be banned is rather pitiful and embarrassing

But I'm not complaining about the loss of pointless, irritating WUMs like ardja, Rasher and Rage who do nothing but antagonise and irritate everyone else on the site

For me, the situations with Rage and Rashid are quite different.
I'm not sure what the circumstances were around Rage's ban but he was given some leeway. Its a shame IMO as he could be a decent poster, especially in GC.
I'm not sure but could see an argument that he wasn't treated THAT fairly.

Rashid however came here with a reputation for being 'controversial' and antagonistic. This is a reputation he has deliberately cultivated for years. It wasn't a case of a new poster coming here and getting rounded on. He knew what he was doing.

And why anyone is having a go at macca I don't know. All he said was he wasn't posting while Rashid was here. His business surely.

I think some of you should re-read the first page of this thread and if you think that's an acceptable way to treat someone who hasn't been abusive...well...have fun in the zoo.

I think it's slightly different when somebody feels the need to *announce* that they're not posting because of a certain poster and will only begin posting again once said poster is removed.

I tend not to read most posts on the FF beause they're truly and abominably shit. So I have no idea what Rage, Drossena and Rashid did to deserve a banning. They seemed ok to me, albeit a little repetitive. Do we all need to like each other?

Anyway, it's none of my business who posts and who doesn't and who's banned and who isn't - obviously.

Disagree. Macca knew people would miss him if he stopped posting on here. It was entirely reasonable that he should make clear why he was going to be absent.

The moment Macca said it everyone could see the writing on the wall.

In any event, I would have made the same choice.
 
I think it would have been different had it been a new poster. However Rashid is not a new poster. He's well known for going on forums and acting like a cunt. Its his aim to wind people up and get attention. For that reason I don't see why he should be afforded the same chances others have had.
 
Let's face it, there are long-standing members who do nothing different from rage or rashid but are never banned. There is a hardcore set of 'indispensables' that means a common policy is impossible to enforce.

I'm not saying I'm arsed or anything like, but let's not kid ourselves.

As I've said before, maybe some of the people who are commenting, in spite of preempting it with "It's none of my business", should refrain from commenting and let the owners run the site the way they want to run it. What ever makes the mods happy is fine by me, whether people think it's fair or not. They pay for it, maintain, and run it, and are all mature enough to make sensible decisions.
 
Whilst I do broadly agree with you Gerry, and I think I have always been supportive of the owners on here, I would also defend the right of members here to comment.

I think this site as well run and I like it here. I imagine the majority agree with me. However, this site, just as any forum, is only as good as its members. So I think its fine for people to give their opinions, and to be fair these opinions are regularly asked for.

Whatever makes the owners happy is fine with me, whether people think it's fair or not. They pay for it, they maintain it, run it and are all mature enough to make sensible decisions.

fair point gene. i do think it's a little different. i guess i just think the way these threads turn out are a little embarrassing.
