Not early kick off time for midweek

I’m happy today was postponed. Players can rest, less need to rotate for Girona.

We now only have 2 PL games before Christmas which means we can rotate enough with EFL cup to have a good run in late Dec / Jan.

I think we’ll get Ali back on and Jota on bench. Also great chance to get Chiesa earning his wage.

Fully hope / expect heavy use of subs to get Jota & Chiesa prepped for late Dec. Would love Elliot to start over Szobs but not expecting miracles.
 
I’d still go Endo over Gravy to save Gravy for Fulham. I think this could be Kelleher’s last game in the top competitions until Ali is injured again.

That should be enough to keep us top of the league and guarantee top 8.
 
Not exactly the big story of the morning but Alexis Mac Allister will now serve his one-game suspension against Fulham next week. Midfielder also banned for Girona on Tuesday. Should have Alisson, Jota and Konate all back and Mac Allister won’t be suspended for the rearranged Goodison derby.

I’d still rotate and rest those aching bodies.

Paramount we are fresh and limit injuries coming into Xmas.

Fuck the league cup.
 
Macca suspended is good for him to put his feet up til Spurs.

I hopefully it’s Endo coming in for him
 
I’d prob go strong for this knowing that if we win we are almost guaranteed top 8 and can rotate much more heavily for the final two group games in late Jan.


However do agree with using this and Saints EFL to get those on the outskirts the time they need to be PL ready

“He saved us a point really because if we had gone 2-0 down things would have been even harder for us to come back from.
"If you make a mistake as a goalkeeper it's difficult for someone else to cover it up for you.
He's always there to help us. We just unfortunately couldn't be there to help him."
 
I'm adjusting the team I want to see. Macca is out til Fulham (his ban hits in the EFL cup now right?), and I think we should give Gravy that same rest - which would be approaching 10 days.

Effectively 8 recent regular starters. However Macca, Virgil (he needs a rest too), Gravy & Diaz all getting a well earned rest.

If possible : Elliott (on after 60 mins for Mo.), Nyoni and Morton (for Jones) to get serious minutes SvP.

I mean they have Daley Blind, Oriol Romeu and Donny Van de Beek playing for them ffs.

Fulham is before ELF cup tie, so he will serve his domestic ban then I think, so his next game might be the EFL one
 
Tactically they seem to set up like a top team, but I agree their squad doesn't look all that. There's Danjuma, too, who had promise but has been a journeyman after a decent first year in La Liga with Villareal. New loans every year since 2021.

I think we can rotate the defence and midfield for this one with Nunez and Diaz definitely starting to get in behind.
