Ox

Everton paid £40m for Iwobi, we got £19m for Solanke. We paid £40m for him even though he had 6 months to run till the end of his contract. If the club is to sell him, it will be in the summer, when he is fit
And you believe a buying club wouldn't consider his dodgy injury record and reduce his price accordingly ? I doubt he's worth £25m at this point. But I'd prefer to keep him for that.

You'll Never Walk Alone, unless you're walking with crutches.
To be fair, Shanks famously wouldn't look the direction of any Liverpool player with the temerity to get injured, never mind speak to them!

I don't think it is massively contentious for people to worry that Ox is too brittle to make the absolute most of his talents at Liverpool. I really like him as a character, and think he brings something different to the midfield mix. But it is true that he missed large chunks of seasons for Arsenal, and he has been unlucky with injury with us too.

Hopefully this isn't serious and he's back within a few weeks. He also needs to just calm a little. He seems to be trying too hard to make stuff happen when he's on the ball, and that means he currently loses the ball far too regularly, and leaves a big hole in the process. He currently exposes the defence in a manner that none of our other mids do, and whilst we can accept some risk/ reward, right now it leans too heavily on the risk side.

So we insist on buying him knowing he had "dreadful" injuries during his Arsenal days, and we now blaming him for not keeping himself fit even though his first injury with us was down to a tackle he did that jarred his knee and now landed on his ankle while being tackled by an opposing player should not be taken into account? Your post sounds as if he was asking for it, or that he was weak, Lallana weak.

Sturridge and Lallana pulled muscles during training, that isn't down to luck but rather muscles are way too fragile. In Oxlade-Chamberlain's case, I would give you that the knee injury he had was recurring since he had quite a few of those during his Arsenal days, but this ankle injury isn't a repeat incident. This is not muscle not build to play for our club tempo. This is an accident. It should be taken into consideration.

We called for players to be loyal to us, bitch and moan when they asked for a transfer, calling them names and chastised them. Now a player who would give his all when he wasn't injured had a bad LUCK spell, and suddenly we should be looking to offload him? Someone who doesn't come in and complain about not being a starter all the time, someone who is happy to play his part for us?

What's with the melodrama... "he was asking for it"? Err what?

I guess I'll repeat the same thing again - he's been, over the course of his career, out injured a lot. I don't care if that is down to luck, "being weak" as you put it or a voodoo. It doesn't change the outcome.

I don't think he'll be sold as I think Klopp likes him but I do think we need to look for other options in the positions he plays in (irrespective of his injury record tbh as I think we can do better).

So if you can figure out that he is too injury prone, would you not think potential buying clubs would so also?

Judging by the wording, it seems like it's the less serious end of the spectrum, but at the same time, it does seem like the club is being intentionally vague like before when it was the worst. Klopp has confirmed he'll miss the next two games, but I feel like that was a given anyway.

This whole thread now that it's only two matches.

I’m happy with him staying here when he knows he needs to perform to get in the team. He is better suited to counter attacking games (but aren’t most forwards?!) but i think he’s an asset to the squad and team when firing. Not worth replacing when there are other obvious upgrades to make including CB and FB cover

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss at least the Premier League leaders' next two games with ankle ligament damage.
The England midfielder, 26, was forced off during Saturday's Club World Cup final, returning later to celebrate the 1-0 victory over Flamengo on crutches.

"We have to see how quick it can settle," said Klopp, whose side face second-placed Leicester on 26 December. "It can take a while, or it can be quicker."
Klopp said there was "no chance" Oxlade-Chamberlain could make Thursday's match at the King Power Stadium (20:00 GMT kick-off). Liverpool then host Wolves on Sunday (16:30) in what will be their ninth game of a packed December.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm sitting here with ligament damage and the docs said 1-3 months (and it's not that bad). I had ligament damage once when I played rugby at school - 6 months before I could play again. It's worse than a break.

Bit annoying now, every time he falls you expect something serious. Does he weigh too much or something ? Sometimes I look at him and he reminds me of an egg.

As he is English he is worth keeping for the quotas but we should never be relying on ox. Another big chance for keita and banana to lesser extent
