Yeah... but its pretty much dependent on us making that special signing.
I'm not sure what your point is. We all (board, manager, fans, rival fans etc.) know Remy and Lambert wont replace Suarez.
We all knew we needed to strengthen the squad (which we have done, in multiple areas)
We all know we need a full back. We have allegedly tried to sign a few, on both sides.
We all know we need to sign more players.
There is 5-6 weeks to sign those players. What is the point of complaining about it now?
Not to mention Suarez only officially signed last week, so we haven't had the 75 million in the bank for very long. If the deal had fallen through for some reason we'd be fucked by the FFP rules if we had spunked it on a new player in advance.
If you are getting frustrated at this stage of the transfer window, then it boils down to impatience on your own part.

Though, I'm not really that frustrated by it at all, as I tend to wait to see how things pan out. But I can see why other people might be.

Poppy cock, he was solid in the Dutch league and had a very good World Cup. That's hardly established except maybe in a 50/50 hindsight kind of way. None of the big clubs were in for him, just like this summer for the targets we are looking at
It was a gamble like all these signings are. Nobody thought he could surpass Torres. Yet he did. And nobody did, so I don't want any chancers or spoofers on here claiming they did. It was thought he would add some flair, but wasn't seen as a goalscorer of the same level.
Face it, we won't know if we have signed a new precocious talent, until the results are in.
Unless you want to sign a big name on the way down.
Yes they spent a fortune on a player who gave them a cosmetic boost for a few months before he became captain windy and had no negligible influence on the rest of the season, so that everyone is wondering if he was worth the money, hardly a good long term buy.

Suarez was a gamble, but to a lesser degree. Luis Suarez was capped 30 times by his country and had scored 81 goals in 110 games prior to joining us.
None of Remy, Lambert, Lallana, and Markovic are close to that. That's why Luis Suarez was more established than our current signings, and why arguing otherwise makes you look like a fucking cretin.
He's only venting a bit and voicing some of his concerns. Are you only allowed to do that at the end of the transfer window?
Oh no, then he'll have to wait in order to give the new signings and the manager time. So perhaps in 2 years he might be able to express his feelings / opinions.
This happens every year and I can never understand why some people have to give others shit for supposedly "complaining" or being impatient. Does every post really need to carry a disclaimer stating "this is just how I feel at the moment, I realize there are several weeks left and that I might be worrying for nothing, please don't patronize me".
It was just an example of how signing a big player can give everyone a lift and have a positive effect on and off the pitch, no more no less, Ozil turning out to be shit coward is irrelevant.
It would be different if we hadn't signed anyone, were broke or weren't linked to anyone. But we've been linked to loads of players, apparently have loads of money and have signed lots of players already. We also all know we are going to sign more players....there isn't even a slither of a reason to think we aren't. He hasn't even waited a full week since we sold Suarez.
There was recognition of all that though. It was more about the players we have signed and are being linked to.

At the start of the season his signing did, it gave their whole club a shot in the arm and nipped all the negativity that was around in the bud, the fans were all buzzing at finally signing a big name player and the team flew.
Imagine if we actually signed Reus or someone like that, how could that be anything but positive for Liverpool? for me it would be a massive signal of intent that we ain't fucking around and genuinely mean business this season.
I think the point is that, a signal of intent is what you do on the pitch. Ultimately the Ozil signing meant fuck all in the grand scheme of things, it gave them a boost yeah but what did it really give them in the longrun over the course of the season? Another 4th place finish and a spell of months where they bottled it and everyone wanted the manager out (again). So Ozil turning out to be a shit coward is anything but irrelevant. The boost didn't get them from 7th to 2nd, blowing teams off the park in the process. It gave them more of the same, along with a £40m hit to their pocket.

In fairness, Arsenal were missing important players which probably had as much to do with their capitulation as anything else. Still, the point re: spending well is one that can't be argued against.
I don't think we need to replace a star name with a star name personally but like yourself and most others feel like we need something a bit more concrete to supplement all the young potential we've gotten so far.

A signal of intent isn't just what you do on the pitch at all, if we sold Sturridge and Sterling and bought Connor Wickham and Scott Sinclair then that is a signal of intent without kicking a ball on the pitch, obviously that would be a negative where as signing a Reus/Di Maria or some big world class player is a positive signal of intent.

I don't know about baseball, but I wonder what FSG's attitude towards losing a star player is? Maybe they're happy to refill the team with a handful of good players when they lose an excellent one? Or do they like to get another excellent player in? They may have been burnt with carroll, but maybe at the time they thought they were swapping excellent with excellent?
If they can't compete with an offer or think it's smart to let a player go, then they do that. But they won't be forced into parting with the pieces they like either.
What does moron want by box to box ? - I will tell you, it seems we have expanded the squad but more than anything what we will miss of Suarez more than his goals - is his determination and doggedness to battle on. I know there are no players out there that will have that and the goals that Suarez scored and to be honest I am not that bothered regarding his goals as he was very hit and miss in the earlier seasons - it just so happened that it came together last season in terms of goal-scoring.
I just feel that overall - yes more quality squad on paper but when the going gets tough will the likes of Lallana, Markovic run for cover ? will they fight for the team ? or are they going to hang around waiting for the ball to be dropped at their feet ? that is what worries me. I don't know if Henderson will reproduce the form of last season, as I have this view that a really good player will play good from season one and that is is minimum level. If a player is bought and he plays badly from the start or is not noticeable on the pitch like Henderson was in his first two seasons then I think that is his natural level, and that worries me in case like a drug addict he goes back to his first two season's showing. Strange and complicated but I just want a fighter in that team and right now I cannot see one. Rodgers is relying too much on passing/move tactics winning the day when sometimes you need that c*nt in the middle to drive a team, I really hope that Suarez's contribution in terms of his fighting character is not lost on our manager and that he realizes that that is what he needs to purchase for the team.
Can I also just say that I think too much unnecessary fuss is made of missing the goals that Suarez scored. I would say that at a maximum 5-7 goals were down to his magic but the rest can be replicated by other members of the team through creating chances for others in the team.
I don't think it is mate. We want more than a cosmetic lift, on a expensive player, that ends up being a probable disappointment.
After Andy Carol - never again. When you spend big on a player - the minimum you should expect is that the player delivers the goods. Ozil, probably did give Arsenal a lift but I think they just got him as a replacement for Cesc, and to be honest they also needed a strongman of the Viera type to support Ozil. We are not a club that can afford to spend big on big names and they turn out to be failures e.g. Cheslea with Torres, and Shevchenko, Manchester United with the likes of Veron (remember him ?).

Still a risky signing and a gamble, just as Suarez was.
There's no such thing as gambles and lesser gambles until after the fact. There's been a world of players that came to England that should have made it and didn't - and vice versa. Sheva should have made it. Cristiano Ronaldo was passed up by us as he was seen as expensive and risky.

When we signed him - I don't remember anyone on here saying what a great goalscorer he was, and if someone did then the depression on this site after Torres had left would not have been so apparent. Whenever you sign someone from the Dutch league - it is always a gamble. Also when Suarez joined us - I distinctly remember him missing loads of chances in his first two seasons, along with the rest of the team. Had he scored those chances then perhaps Kenny would still be in charge of LFC. He came good in this league last season - where everything clicked for him.
Seems like it's maybe a standout, determined, lead by example type you want not necessarily a box to box midfielder. You should take some comfort in the thought that Suarez played with a lot of these guys for the last few seasons and his qualities have surely left a big impression on them. I sorta get what you mean about Lallana and Markovic but it's going to be extremely difficult to know who will stand up and get stuck in during the tough times until that happens, it's just guessing to say that they won't.
I have the feeling Sterling will shoulder a lot of responsibility in the side now, imo him playing well will give great confidence to his team mates. We still have Gerrard and I think very highly of Henderson, he's not scared to open his mouth.
My two concerns in the side are with existing players - Mignolet needs to grow some balls and a voice. Sturridge needs to stay happy and not act like a huffy bitch if he's getting rotated with Remy / Lambert or the if the team aren't quite as good or free flowing as last year.
Yeah the Trolls were all out saying he wasn't a goal scorer. Anyway..
