Creativity, form and consistency will be a huge factor. I have high hope for Sturridge stepping up to the 30 goal mark if he can stay injury free and be consistent. Lambert and Remy will get 15 - 20 goals. Sterling, Lallana and Coutinho to at least get 10 goals each and Markovic to maybe get there or thereabouts.
We're in good hands and the type of football we play guarantees goals.

Defence saving : 10-12 goals (to return to a normal Top 4/5 level of 38-40 goals conceded).
Sturridge : 20-23
Lallana : 10-12
Sterling : 10-12
Coutinho : 5-8
Markovic : 5-6
Lovren : 4-5
Remy : 12-15
Lambert : 10-12
Lots of leeway there for more/less but in the end we should still match or surpass the +50 GD of last season.
I have every reason to be optimistic and we won't be shipping easy goals. Having said that, you're no too far from from my predictions give or take a few 😉

Though I wasn't as totally enamoured with Rojo's WC performances, as some here were, he would be an excellent buy and would only cost ca. £10m according to reports.
Interestingly, from what I can see in transfermarkt, he played most of his games in the last 2 seasons at CB for Sporting Lisbon - someone who has watched them more closely can correct me here.
It seems we may need to step into the murky waters of 3rd party ownership again. Rojo's rights partly belong to Doyen Sports (see who else they work(ed?) with here: http://www.doyensports.com/en/players.html), and some sources (not sure of reliability) have put the 3rd party stake at as high as 75%.
Transfermarkt says Sporting paid £3.5m for Rojo when he transferred from Spartak Moscow. I'm not sure if all of that came from the club, or if they shared the cost with Doyen Sports, or if they paid up everything, then sold a stake to Doyen at a different price. Whatever the case, the £10m price tag would probably need to be taken very loosely because both the club and the 3rd party owner would want a nice return on their investment. Wouldn't be surprised if they're asking for 50% or higher more on the rumoured values.
I think for any new signings in future, especially if they are attackers/forwards, make them sign a clause that states 'must score minimum of x number of goals a season', else have your wage deducted for the month or something like that.
Signings make me feel like I wish I was an agent picking up a few points on the package.

From reading all the responses - I feel that there is an undercurrent of nervousness like me. Yes we have bought potential but really when you think about it - we came so close to the title last season that the next step up would be to go and try and win the league regardless of how our main rivals are gearing up for the coming season. For that we needed established players who can guarantee a major difference. I feel that even if Suarez had stayed the signings we have made don't really make too much sense - it would have been sufficient to improve the side significantly by signing:-
1) The defender we need be it Lovren
2) left/right back
3) A strong midfielder who is dynamic box to box
Also having just read a message on the Lovren thread - I see that Chelsea may come in for him, if we lose out to them then it is desperately stupid of us to negotiate (if we are) for so long to get the key position we really need. It is just stupid and silly if we lose out particularly in a market that is low in supply of quality defenders. I honestly don't expect much of Lambert, Markovic, and Cann. I even have doubts about Lallana, it just feels we lacking strength in the middle and fighting spirit - I am thinking of a Viera, Keane, SG (of old), Essien etc type player.

This time around - Lambert, Remy, Markovic, Lallana, Origi. 2 strikers with PL goals and experience, a skilful, 2 footed England international with great stats last season, a promising young guy we don't intend to play until next season and a highly rated young guy.
If we also get Moreno or some half decent left back it'd be the complete opposite of lending that donkey Cissokho.
It's disappointing to lose Suarez but he's irreplaceable so the only feasible thing to do is improve the entire squad to cover any deficit he has left behind, that's why I feel alright about our signings.

Really hard to disagree with any of that, Rodgers does seem to have been hypocritical in his 'quality over quantity' comments this summer but there is some time to go so we have to wait and see on that one.
I get and am content with the Lambert and Remy signings but if they along with Markovic/Origi are our only forward signings this summer then it would be a massive load of shit, we are crying out for another wide attacker, a top quality established one as well, if Sanchez wasn't controlled by a woman then we might have got him and it would have been perfect for us considering what has happened, surely not many complaints if we had signed Sanchez, Markovic, Remy, Lambert and Origi, Di Maria is the alternative to Sanchez, it looks like there is a chance Madrid don't want him anymore and need some spending money, if that's the case we should go balls out to get him, why not?
Totally agree with the psychological bit you mention, at the moment its many more questions than answers and a bit of a shrug of the shoulders to most of it, we need a shot in the arm, look what happened when Arsenal signed Ozil and the boost that gave the whole club, they absolutely flew from that momentum and positivity in the first few months.
Sorry but that was never going to be the case. We have lost Suarez and have an extra 10-15 games to play next season with the smallest squad of the Top 7 teams in the country. If we are being realistic then the squad needed to be expanded with good quality in depth .. having Aspas as our bench striker last season shows how bereft we were in certain quarters.
Our targets for next season are to remain in the Top 4, no-one I know of is expecting a title challenge. Some good runs in the cups would be nice and offer the best chance of silverware. To make the last 8 of the CL is my hope too, as this would enhance our reputation for the next Summer's dealings.
Much of our transfer activity was done before or during the World Cup .. before it was known Suarez was on his way ; Lallana, Lambert, Can, Markovic too to a greater extent. Lovren and Moreno were our top defensive targets and we are still battling on that front. So the only player we have added after is was known Suarez was leaving is Remy, who adds strength in deep to our bench, a player France took to the World Cup to back up Benzema, so is a great deal for the money and an excellent fit for our squad.
If we can sign off the Summer with Lovren, Rojo (or another LB) and a powerful CM then this will have been an excellent window with us having done the best we can to both strengthen the squad (and not let's forget the youngsters, now a year older, coming through who will also help in this regard ; Suso, Texeira, Ibe, Rossiter, Peterson, Smith, Ilori) and the first team by virtue of having a stronger team than last year.
He may have found brilliance at Liverpool, but he was more established than any of our signings so far and had displayed considerable talent on the world stage.
We need some proven quality to arrive this summer.
Me also. The squad is shaping up to be a lot stronger than last year but our strongest XI weaker. We are in need of a proven quality attacking signing.
I am not sold on Can so not really sold on our midfield. Davies would have been a good option for a good price at LB cos I'm not really sold on Moreno either. Will be interesting to see what develops but I feel we need to chuck a lot of money at one player.
He was more established with more experience and older too. Yes we need proven talent but the big name signing we are clamouring for may not happen.

2. We cant realistically attract superstars.
Its true you can make arguments to support both of those statements but if they were wholly true then we may as well just pack it in now.

NOBODY expected to play as well as we did last season and come second, heck if it weren't for just that little bit of naiivety against Chelsea we may well have won the blessed thing. For me the key last season was the complete determination we showed and the mental strength of knowing that with what we had up front we could always score. We knew we were shit hot and we played like it, instead of letting the pressure of knowing that we didn't have much of a defence we focussed on the positives that is; blazing fucking firepower.
In my mind at least in one fail swoop we've just sold a shit load of goals and double that in determination and team morale. We've sold our swagger.
Why did City win the title? They won because they had the squad chock full of great players and the belief and confidence that comes from having that.
We have been whining on for years that we cant attract the big players because we are outside the CL so whats the first thing we do when we get back in... sell our biggest player...
I find it excrutiating... what the fuck is this committee thinking??

The only way to guarantee we stay under foot is to stop being ambitious, there is some hopeful potential in that bunch we've just bought sure enough, and yeah we need a bigger squad, but above all we need better fucking players and IMO so far we've shown sweet fuck all ambition in our signings.

It's the same every summer. A few people lose grip on reality.
I dunno. Last summer was really poor in the transfer market and the frustration builds when you see the same pattern re-emerging. We have lost one of the world's best players. Replacing him with Remy and Lambert and a couple of young'uns won't do. Not to mention the glaring weaknesses at FB. Current rumours notwithstanding (sorry for that word.)
I personally think if we add a proven quality attacking player to the signings we have already made, that's a great summer. If not, it's quite a poor one.
Yes. But it wasn't an option. If you believe it was then you need to read the quotes coming out of the club and the ITKs. So if you accept that (as 99.9999% of the footballing world does) then 50% of your post was written in vain. You would have been better off actually expressing your feelings on the players we've signed.
Though maybe the post made you feel better ? In which case there is indeed a very tenuous link to the thread title.
