Newcastle 1 Liverpool 1 (Post match)

I still believe that if sturridge had the run of games firmino had hed finish the sesson with twice as many goals in this side.

I feel a bit sorry for him, its painfully obvious that hes not in form and has no rhythm with those first team players and its looking unlikely he will ever have that here

I think there is a overwhelming amount of shite spoken about Gini so far on this post match forum. I don't blame any of our midfielders for the Newcastle game but our front men are at fault - they were absolute garbage and I can understand why Klopp is bemused by all the stuff - we just cannot score even when there is a gaping fucking goal in front of us. Players are shooting everywhere but the goal when they are clean through. This problem has actually being going on for quite a bit - even though last season we were scoring high early on - I also remember in those same games we were missing a few sitters.

Also the article posted by @gkmacca on page (1) of the analysis - is something that is visually apparent in our games regarding the amount of pressing we do in comparison to last season. It does appear the players have taken their pace of the ball - the actual movement up front is much slower than slower - I don't know if this is deliberate but it could be the plan was to pace ourselves and depending on how it goes to really push in the second half of the season. As it stands we cannot seem to push right now at all - its all to slow and obvious. Still we are creating stuff but no one has got their scoring boots on.

It can't be that shithouse Gini, because he barely touches the ball. And people have short memories about Henderson, he might be below par, but previously he's been pretty high in the assists rankings for us. He played a great ball over the top last night to Mane which set him up one on one, which Mane proceeded to fuck up anyway. And he played some great passes in the previous game too. It's a bit rich going on about Henderson, especially when it's the same poster who previously lauded that mediocre, sideways passing Brazilian for years.

Can was diabolical in the previous game.

I assumed people were joking...

The original Souness comment was describing JonJo Shelvey because he played an excellent through ball, therein he has good ability and often looks to attack.

The fact it then descended into a full on slag fest of our own players says it all really.

The only thing of note in the entire thread other than the disturbingly long justification for the whinge festival is the article about our change in pressing style. It has been noticeable how we are not really going in for the high press as often as we used to and the mention of lallana and running stats there is interesting. I doubt very much that with an increase in size of squad we would necessarily change gear downwards to avoid injuries later in the season having been warned last season but maybe we have... yes we do have the European games this year but by the same token we have dropped out the carumba bullshit cup early as well...

I think Hendo is a pretty good player...

But then I think Wijnaldum can be as well....

But yes it is true that neither of them is as good as our midfield of ten years ago...

Yeah... we lost points to a flukey goal ... we must be due a tonking....funny ol game eh...

James Pearce‏ @JamesPearceEcho
Dejan Lovren on how he's taking five pills to get through every #LFC game....

Didi Hamann‏ @DietmarHamann
I'm taking 8 pills to be able to watch him every week

I find watching Lovren more enjoyable on pills.

I'd love to be able to have a 25 year old Didi Hamann in this Liverpool team. Or Alonso. Or Gerrard. Or Mascherano.

Or all four.

God, just looking at the likes of Wijanldum and Can and then thinking what we've had in that midfield 10 years ago.

Yeah, momo had enough beastly performances in a short spell to elevate way ahead of plessis et al

Fuck u got to say Sissoko? He had one bad year, because his eye got fucked. Before then he was bossing it.

Yeah that eye injury fucked him up. Before then he was a fucking MONSTER. He beat up the whole barca midfield at the Nou Camp.

Not wanting to start a massive argument, but I firmly believe that if you gave Rafa this squad we'd be feared in attack AND tough to beat. Not that he would build this squad, but you know what I mean.

Literally anybody with eyes could see that we would be a shambles of a side if we were not going to buy a CB.
We also badly needed a left-back, and a keeper.

This was all so simple and obvious to address, but hey, at least we got a 35m substitute.

One of our worst summer transfer windows ever, considering what we achieved last season and our aspirations for this. OC is a dog, and we didn't address our most pressing needs. Painful.

Yeah he had some great games (remember that Community shield against Chelsea when noone could go near him) but also had a fair share of shite games when he was just blazing around the pitch randomly kicking the ball and opposition players.

He definitely doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence than Plessis, who belongs in the "worse Liverpool midfielders than Lucas" category.

Agree in part. I'm sure Rafa would make our defence tighter even without a change of personnel. I'm less sure we'd be anything like as feared in attack though.

I don't think he'd know what to do with that attacking lineup, apart from benching three of them.

Oh for the days of such astute buys as Aquilani.

I liked Sissoko but he had his fair share of games where he actually looked like he'd never played football before. Who can forget his vertical pass, to himself?

I've got a postage stamp here, can I note down the rest of the players from that category??

Charlie adam only had a year but he was pretty gash.

This has jut made me realise that joe allen probably had more about him than any of the current cloggers and hes now at fucking stoke city.

Where would our midfield rank in the league hierarchy? Discounting coutinho.

Joe Allen was shit too. But yeah, it's arguable that he's no worse than The Shithouse Ghost.
