Well look, we could go round in circles forever here. Im no going to post on it again because whats done is done. But the fact is on the LAST day of the transfer window we strengthened Chelsea and weakened ourselves and that (regardless of the arguments) is fucking mental.
I dont know the ins and outs, no one does, but we sold one of our best players and didnt replace him. It seems the easiest way of dealing with that is to deny he was any good or claim that Jordan Henderson is a better player after one decent game for us.
Whatever floats your boat. I cant believe we allowed it to happen. I just cant. Its shite.
But its done and the season spans out ahead of us.
So long Raul. Yer cunt.
Ah....the voice of reason. Your first paragraph is spot on and sums its all up Oncy.
I'm sure there were posts like this when we sold El Cunto and replaced him with a 'Oh shit, another Mateja Kezman' like Eredivision stud.

Yes, we sold a good player to a rival. We 'strengthened' them. We 'got weaker'.

I trust Kenny's judgement here.

I also can't believe you're ignoring what Jon wrote in his last post - he wanted to leave. So Modric stayed - big whoop, Berbatov didn't. Carrick didn't etc. They couldn't sell their best player. It happens, they held firm and will sell him in Jan or next summer probably instead.

I'd rather people who don't want to be here move on. We did it with Torres. We did it with Mascherano. We did it with Alonso. Yes, great players. But we're Liverpool, and some guy once said that Liverpool is bigger than any player.

Oh, and Ming is a good player and better than Hendo. Hope you can pull out a reason for me! 🙂
I honestly think Tottenham will hugely regret not selling Modric this window. He'll go for under half of what they could of got this season and they'll get no where near as much worth out of him this season. Should have taken the £40million and bought 2-3 player who would have really strengthened them.

Well I've made my point so I'm off to set up a voodoo training accident that results in amputations.

I agree Mystic ... They're mad for not taking 40 million ... He's good, but not that good.

He's really the kind of player Chelsea needed too ...

hahaha. 'arry said 'I believe they've offered 40m' & everyone treats it like gospel.

It's clearly bullshit, they didn't offer anything like that. If they did, they'd have sold him.

If as the previous texts suggest we knew he might be leaving, we should have had a backup ready - in my view Mcarthy from Wigan would have been ideal - an 8-10 m bid would have got him. we could have thrown in spearing as well.

Exactly what i said in the transfer thread jon. 'arry said either side of the comment "i believe" or "I hear" or "i've been told". He was making sure the spurs fans knew they wanted to keep him NO MATTER WHAT! When in actuality i'd imagine chelsea were focusing on the raul and pereira deals

You are right about Torres. But we sold him and then strengthened.
We have sold Meireles and NOT strengthened.
Adam and Henderson and Downing were already here so we didnt buy them to strengthen our team after Meireles departure.
So we directly strengthened a rival and weakened ourselves.
And your second point about just letting players leave.......hows that worked out? We were 2nd in the league and perrenial champions league semi finalists. Now we adopt an 'If they wanna go fuck em' strategy and we scrape 6th by the fucking skin of our teeth.

You do not DO NOT sell your best players. You definately dont sell them to a rival and you DEFINATELY dont do it with the transfer window closing so you cant replace him.
If we wanted Sturridge and they said no then fine WE SAY NO.
So we decided to sell him? So why did he have to hand in a transfer request? And we still sold him to Chelsea.

Probably why we barely played him this season tbh. Let hendo, adam, downing build up a relationship with the squad who are to stay. no point in them building up a rapport with a player who's going to be fucking off.

Explains why he was involved in the kick about against exeter too

I agree with a lot of what you're saying oncy but you are effectively wailing and ganshing your teeth over someone who had effectly become a fringe player. gerrard is out and ming still couldn't get into the team. if adam got injured I'm still not certain ming would have got into the team as I don't think kenny wants someone in a CM position who is afraid to stick his boot in and there is no chance in heck ming would have played as a support striker.

Oncey

Where was Ming all day yesterday?

Chelsea wouldn't buy a player carrying an injury with 15 mins to go on the transfer clock without him having a medical.

Its pretty obvious that he was there with Liverpools blessing no?

We made him hand in a transfer request so that it shows that he wanted to leave. Thus placing the "blame" on the player rather than the club. It also saves us money, as we don't have to pay him off.

I liked Ming and thought he was unlucky not to start the first couple of games but there's no doubting he's a gutless shithouse. And I can completely understand if Kenny doesn't wish to populate the team with gutless shithouses. Besides, I have a lot more faith in Shelvey than some and ultimately, I think Henderson will end up in the middle anyway.

Yep, I damn sure Kenny knew when signing Henderson he didn't see Ming in the side. I fucking positive Ming knew that too, which explains him being happy as a pig in shit in May, & very unhappy in July. We signed Henderson in June.

Look at the forums now, ming is a shithouse etc. If he didn't hand in a transfer request i've no doubt we'd see more posts like yours and that "we've fucked up"

He handed in a transfer request so we didnt have to pay him off. Given this time last our top four central midfielders were Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles and Poulsen and now its Gerrard, Adam, Lucas and Henderson its hard to say we've weakened.

If he really wanted out in August, then I believe (obviously I may be wrong) that Adam & Henderson were his replacements, as will a (hopefully) fit and firing Stevie G will be.

I don't think Meirless strengthens them that much - not because he isn't a good player, but because he doesn't fit in to AVB's 4-3-3 imo.

I don't want to compare G&H years to what FSG is building. We were a team on the way down, and we've been given new life.

Manure sell their best players every bloody year (Stam, Beckham etc). It doesn't hurt them because they've done it the right way. I believe we may be following a similar path now - We have a great core. If you don't want to be here, or cross the manager, you can move on and you will be replaced (either with bought talent, or kids).

It may not inspire you, but I still see you as the leader of DA. So don't worry, we'll win the league without Meirless, and if we don't, we'll still finish ahead of them in the league.

We're on the right path.

What? It makes perfect sense.

Minge is happy at the end of last season, then we sign a number of players, then he realises that he's not as important to the squad as he hoped.
Suddenly he's unhappy(could be partly due to the wages too).
We're not hugely swayed either way on whether he stays or not.
He wants to go, so we say hand in a transfer request so.
He does.
He moves.
We move on.

For whatever reason never been that sold on Raul. He's got some decent abilities but also some traits I don't cheerish in a footballer as well.

I believe we've done a very good bit of business here. Hard for me to see we've even 'strengthened' the Chavs but time will tell I guess. Can't see him play much to be honest.

To move an almost 30-year-old squadplayer on for £12M and then get in a free Bellamy who's going to offer something else from the bench, is in my opinion, shrewd.

Bye Raul.

Hello happy Liverpool-days.

I agree, never truly sold on ming, thought he was a little overrated. obviously would have preferred he stayed but it's not like when alonso left where you knew the loss would hit us hard.

He's nowhere near as good as any of chelsea's midfielders. But the fact he is portugal's captain might influence villa boas into picking him anyway. In fact thats a fucking certainty to happen because managers always act like cunts when it comes to team selection.

I think we have fucked chelsea for a second time, and comolli is probably a genius
