I love Mascherano, I'm quite surprised to see all of the hatred. Last season there were several games where his obvious passion was infectious, helpful, and exactly what you'd want to see. It was lauded on here and elsewhere.

So he's a hot head, and always has been. Oh no. A hard tackling, aggressive CM that will occasionally get sent off, how fucking unprecedented. No one's won anything with one of them.

don't get attached.
I'll be sad to see him go if/when he does, but I'm not going to call him a cunt for doing what he has done since day 1.

Javier Mascherano Escapes FA Punishment
Argentine will go unpunished for striking Jermaine Beckford
Sep 23, 2009 5:44:23 PM

By Jeremy Brown

The FA has decided against hitting Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano with a violent conduct charge for striking Leeds United forward Jermaine Beckford on the head during their third round League Cup match on Tuesday. The Argentina captain escapes a possible three-match ban.

Prior to a throw-in, Beckford appeared to manhandle Mascherano, who then spun and caught the 25-year-old on the back of the head with a forearm.

After reviewing replays of the incident, referee Alan Wiley, who claimed to have missed the incident despite appearing to have a clear view, informed the FA that he would not have penalised Mascerano had he seen the foul.
An FA spokesman said: "No further action will be taken against Javier Mascherano."

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has dismissed the altercation as "just nothing".

Blah, maybe you're right - but I have argued it before in the the 'players you dislike thread' and I'm the first to admit it's not entirely rational. But yes I do think he's been lucky not to have been sent off more given his position and his harassment/moaning at referees. If you're playing DM you're already a higher risk of picking up a yellow, he's doing himself no favours by these other antics.

Like I've said, it's just plain stupidity and an unwillingness to learn is very frustrating.

Decent player but I don't like him at all.

Ha ha.

Is it only me that still believes the sending off against UTD was complete bullshit???

That in my eyes was one of the stupidest decisions by a referee that season. The abuse shown by Chelsea and Utd that season was intense yet Mascher got sent off for pulling a face.

None of the Chelsea and United player (Except for Drogba), have a face like Mascher.....he just irritates the fuck out of you. The big whinging Jessie.

But i like him, cuz he plays for us.....and plays very well more often than not. If we beat Chelsea away, he would have played a massive part.

Yep.

Honestly though, if he got Gerrard sent off in the world cup, would we all hate him?

Alan Wiley is off his tits then. By the letter of the law that is an obvious red card, and if he'd seen it he would have had to send him off.
I didn't know they passed the decision back to the ref before making a decision themselves? So what about if they dont want to ban someone for something and the ref says 'ooooo give him a 10game ban for that' - They give him a 10game ban.
As per usual the laws of the game and the refs/FA are inconsistent as fuck. I don't want masher banned but this shit has got to be fair, we'd expect an opposition player sent of for that shit and masher has no defence for what he did.

How do you "get someone sent off?"
Simulating a foul or something.

Beckham got himself sent off. As did Rooney last time round.
I agree that the players in question have to accept responsibility, but other teams certainly set out to needle them into losing control (as happened with both Beckham and Shrek). To the extent that they succeed, I think it is possible to argue that they get those players sent off.

These inconsistencies are getting embarassing.

I like Mascher, but he should be punished for that.

As well as Bellamy and Ratface and Eduardo for their own shenanigans.

Why is Adebayor the only one to be sanctioned?

I'm just worried that some prick will decide he might as well risk a charge of violent conduct as there's a 50-50 chance nothing will happen to him.
