There is talk about him getting a ban for hitting Jermaine Beckford.
Why the fuck did he do that, it came out of nowhere.
Mash needs to learn how to control his temper.

How many games might he get banned for? 3? That might really screw us over.

Utter tosh. I can't see why they'd bother with it. Not even (most of) the match reports took it seriously.

we don't need him anyway, Lucas is adequate cover and Stevie can play in middle

It was a daft little manoeuvre, he meant to give him a clout, but Beckford went down like he had been shot rather than clipped around the back of the head.
Beckford actually seems like a decent player but a right twat

regards

You can run but you can't hide, not from hooey like that. 8)

It was certainly a silly thing to do, but Beckford went down like a sack of spuds. He didn't even hit him all that hard. If Neville got away with his gesture toward the city fans on Sunday, Masher should be ok. But as someone said, he needs to learn to mind his temper.

Mascherano is a good player but an idiot. No need to be doing stupid things like that.

Mind you, as has been suggested already Beckford made a bit of a meal of it

Good post. Welcome to the board.

Thanks 🙂

I've been lurking for quite a while now and there's some good reading material on here. My brother (barrymac20) is a more regular poster, so you can thank/blame him for my presence 😉

If the ref had seen it then he'd have got a red, and to be fair he'd have deserved it as what was the point? Stupid thing to do.

Think a sniper may have got Beckford at the exact moment Masher hit him though.

I thought they could only do something if the ref says he didn't see the incident, or have I got it wrong?

I didn't think he had saw it? I thought he only saw Beckford rolling around

I love Monster-Mascher when he's on form.. one of the best in the world at what he does.. But lately, he has turned into a right old twat.. that was Rooney-esque.. what was he thinking? It was only Leeds in the CC for crying out loud. Save that sneaky sh*t for United (and Gary Neville).. or Chelsea (and Drogba). Now, he might actually miss that game if they look at the incident retrospectively. What an idiot.

You sure?

Watching the slow motion replays last night, when Mascherano swivels, the ref looks like he's only about 15m away and looking straight at them.

Also if he hadn't seen it, the way Beckford went down, surely he would have consulted the linesman to find out what happened?

It's a big bureaucratic hassle to deal with something like this retrospectively, espacially when it involves explaining why neither the ref nor the linesman dealt with it at the time, so I'll be amazed if they don't leave it well alone.

He's Argentinian, they're a bit mental.

Remember the World Cup dust-up against Germany in 2006 ?

That's what I would've thought.

When the ref came up to them I thought he was going to get sent off and was suprised when not even a yellow was shown.

I can't see them doing anything about it now.

I'm one of Mascher's biggest fans on here, but I'm afraid things like this begin to suggest people are right when they say he'll be off in the summer and the new contract was to make sure he doesn't do a McMoneyman on us.

Dunno then mate, if he saw it and didn't send him off then he's a prat and Masher's safe.

Could we have complained if the ref had've sent him off for that?

It was a ridiculous thing to do in plain sight of the officials and I was amazed he got away with it. What on earth was he thinking?

He's Argentinian etc....

Nobody should be surprised - he's a stupid cunt of the highest order whose attitude in all too easily tolerated, IMO. If we had Aquilani fit and playing and I'd hope for a Mascherano ban.

The stupid fucker deserves it

Slightly extreme, Squiggles. Did he ogle your girlfriend or something?

I just hate watching such overt blatant stupidity. It really gets to me.

I've never liked him since he cost us the United match and the defence Rafa gave him at the time and after the incident. He should've been sent to the dressing room without even catching his eye but instead he was mollycoddled in Spanish to calm him down and defended in the press. Ridiculous. And I think it's contributed to his failure to learn or change his character.

He's constantly a red card waiting to happen and I hate watching it. It reminds me of watching Traore in defence but I can't be so forgiving in this case.
