So Skrtel. For all the praise we gave Toure for his very good start to the season at centerback, Skrtel has been just as good or better in the past two games.

I didn't expect him to play this well after being banished to Mr. Rodgers doghouse and the slight knock to start the season with no preseason experience.

He has been immense. Very glad we didn't sell him.

Was our best player in 2011-12. Was somewhat harshly treated last season IMHO when dealing with the imposition of a new system and philosophy. Always a sneaky threat at corners. Still looks like a KGB human cloning experiment. Great to see him back.

Skrtel deserves massive credit. Got dropped last season, instead of sulking about it, he worked his bollocks off and made himself undroppable when he got his chance, thats exactly the kind of attitude you want to see.

We are actually in quite a positive state here.

Toure, Skrtel and Agger all deserve to play from what they have shown so far. Despite school-boy errors last night Sakho looks to have a lot of good attributes as well.

Wisdom and Kelly both lurking in the shades, hopefully still improving.

I think Rodgers will play Skrtel and Agger come Soton with Toure as back up for the RB position.

...and if we get the kind of Agger/Skrtel combo we had the season before last, there'll be no better partnership in the league.

Said frequently throughout the Summer that getting Sktel back to his old self would be a massive bonus to this team and so it's proving.

Yup. Skrtel's a confidence player through and through. When he's going through a poor patch, he ends up making mistakes repeatedly whereas when he's on a high, he just gets better and better. He's played two belters in a row, and I'd bet a fair amount that this run of form is going to continue for a while.

His physical attributes have always been outstanding, as has been his general footballing ability. If he had been stronger mentally, he'd have been a bona fide world class player.

Depends if Toure can play left side CB. Otherwise unlikely IMO as Skrtel is only half the player on that side that he is on the right.

I agree with you, but its weird thinking that a centre back can only on one side of the errrr...centre

It would be even weirder to imagine two big CBs standing within inches of each other in the dead centre of the pitch. 😉

Agree with everyone. He's one of the first names on the team sheet in this form and mood. Would be interesting to see him paired with Toure since we already know how good his partnership with Agger can be.

I was more impressed with the way he seems to have been told to cut out the hoofing from the United match and which he learned from, as that was rarely in evidence, even under extreme pressure, against Swansea.
