Liverpool vs Spurs Match thread

I'd play him in behind our striker, just as he does for Spurs with Coutinho on our left side - Eriksen can actually also play on the left so they could swap a bit around.

I somewhat agree about the need for a type like him is less important when Coutinho is firing on all cylinders as he did in the weekend I just don't think you can get too much talent in the squad and from where I am sitting Eriksen is in a completely different league than Lallana for instance.

Anyways it's just a pipe dream of mine, I think it would be rather amazing to watch the two alongside each other. For Liverpool. Not Spurs.

I don't think Eriksen is in a "completely different league" to Lallana, but then I'm not Danish.

I don't think that's a matter of nationality, everyone with eyes who has watched more than five games of football can see Eriksen is in a completely different league to Lallana.

PS Fully aware that you are trolling me and I am fully aware that I took the bait.. don't even feel guilty about it either.

Lallana has regressed though, he was better than Coutinho when he joined us.

Hmmm....why Eriksen? If we're purely speculating at will here, Eriksen would be well down in the pecking order in my opinion.

He's Danish.

Obviously anyone not being mental would choose any one of Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dier, Dembele, Delle Ali and Kane before going anywhere near Eriksen.

You could possibly add in Danny Rose too.

Or none of the above, because it wouldn't really make much sense for any of them to leave Spurs to join Liverpool, unless they were offered a huge wage packet, or been allowed to leave. So maybe Eriksen is one of the more likely ones.

Christ ye are quick to create something out of nothing here lads.

Mark mentions that Eriksen, Dembele, and Kane would walk into our side.
KHL says its a a pipe dream of HIS to see Eriksen and Coutinho play alongside each other.
Neal asks, Why Eriksen?
Brendan says anyone would be mental to choose to Eriksen above a selection of other Spurs players.

It wasn't a discussion on what spurs player would best suit us. Or who their best player was. It was just an off hand remark about a quality player he clearly likes.

It's like Ross and his embarrassing love of Robbie Keane, just because they're both Irish.

Ah we are different though. Ireland is one of those mad countries that hates it's own people. Total begrudgery.

The Irish can't hate everyone Irish. I've not met anyone who doesn't like the fella who played Father Ted, for example. Or Macklemore.

Rubbish, Coutinho has improved leaps and bounds, and whilst Lallana hasn't reached the heights he did in that season at Southampton, he's remained massively underrated on these forums, he's hardly regressed.

Yeah there is loads of exceptions but don't dare pawn Macklemore off on us. That's not fair. ha

Actually, that's fair enough. I didn't actually see Mark's post, which was important as to why the whole thing started.

I don't think he's underrated in the main. He was a decent player for Southampton, and he's a decent player here. I don't think anyone expected him to turn into Ronaldo.

I don't think his price tag helps, nor does the fact that being one of Southanmpton's best players isn't really that impressive. He's a decent, versatile, hardworking Premiershiop attacking midfielder with nice technique, no pace and a mediocre scoring record. That's about it.

Ah he's sound.

Who, Macklemore? I knew it! Who could argue with lyrics like these:

I'm an Irishman
Leather weathered Irish skin
Beard orange as the sunset over the flag
In the night sky we fly it in
Pride for the life we fight to live
History, I write with it
Spit it with the dialect
And this is a celebration of course
The green, white, orange
And when they pulled up on that shore
First generation born
Toast to those that made it on a boat to New York
And when the English came the colonizer came
They filled up bottles of gasoline, turned 'em into balls of flame
And hurled 'em to protect what's ours
Don't touch these lucky charms
Whole bunch of Irish screaming "Fuck the London Guard"
I'm kidding not dissin' London, this bloody war
But go against the Irish and get a bloody jaw

Makes House of Pain's "Top Of The Mornin To Ya" look like "Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos"

Lloris and Kane.

Dier, Vertonghen, Alderweireld are benefitting from the Pochettino system. Dont think they're that much better than what we got, if we Include Matip.

I'd take Alli aswell though.
We would be quite good with them in the side.
Kane would be a good fit for a Klopp team.
The big tounge open mouth slick haired mong.

There's 2 kinds of people in this world. Those that are Irish, and those that want to be Irish 😉

You don't think that Vertonghen and Alderweireld are that much better than Lovren, Skrtel or Sakho?

Amazing. Or....not, sadly.

Never been that impressed by Vertonghen, still think he can be got at. He's had a fine season though and looks more assured alongside Alderweireld who's been great for them.

I was on the Macklemore bandwagon until i heard he pronounces his name : Mack-le-more

That pretty much ruined the weekend for me.

Read the post. Including Matip.

There isnt much between Alderweireld - Vertonghen and Lovren - Matip.

Vertonghen hasnt been that impressive until this season and Alderweireld struggled at Atletico and was okay at Soton.
They're not that fucking good. But the system and Spurs team in general are in such a good balance that some of those players look better than they are.
Best example is Walker and possibly Dier.

It shouldnt surprise you that people have different opinions about players - its quite normal.
You're a decent example in that regard with Firmino.

I didn't even know what he is. I saw one clip and presumed it was some kind of joke or vanity project. He can actually rap a bit, yeah, but surely that isn't enough to become a massive.....oh what am I talking about. Of course it is.

Ah we are different though. Ireland is one of those mad countries that hates it's own people. Total begrudgery.

It's great being able to hate people for being successful and it just being an Irish thing. I don't go in for it full time myself but I still think Bono is a massive nob.

I know it's only a freakin' pipe dream of mine but I'd be thrilled to watch Coutinho and Eriksen team up for us. Industrious, hard-working, elegant, classy players with goals and assists to their names.

To be honest Kris, prior to this season I thought we dodged a bullet. I thought his attitude was poor at times and he didn't work hard enough, he seemed like a bit of a luxury who's main source of a return was from setpieces. This season though he seems to have found consistency and gets involved more in the overall play. He sums up Spurs this season, everything is coming together for them at the same time.

PS, I don't think he's in a different league to Lallana either, he's got a great touch and more of a direct return, but he's got plenty of flaws too and it's taken a while for him to get to this level. Sustaining it is another thing. He reminds me alot of the type of players Arsenal usually buy, the ones who are great for a few months of the season when the whole team is playing well, but usually goes missing when things aren't going so well, cf the likes of Nasri, Rosicky, etc.

Re everything is coming together for them at the same time. Thats what how I feel aswell.
They've found a great balance and have kept more or less the same team for a while now.
Pochettino has done a great job organizing them, just like he did at Soton.

Can't wait for the hypocritical cunt to be caught up in the Dutch Panama papers.
