whereas the man city negotiatng approach of 'here's my chquebook' and 'here's a pen' is really hot stuff innit?
i'm going to be controersial and say we don't really *need* any reinforcements, because although we're a good 5 or 6 players short of a complete squad, the current lot should really be good enough to coast to 7th and stands a fair chance of 6th. we're not going to get relegated, we're not going to get top 4. no-one really cares if we qualify for the uefa cup, although it's more likely than not that 7th would do it. the 3 players you mention - all good options, i agree - are *all* out of contract in 18 months, and *all* playing for clubs whose circumstances means they're desperate to hold on to them beyond the transfer window.
unless ajax or blackpool suddenly inexplicably surrender their positions, then the canny operator would wait it out and get them a good deal cheaper in the summer.

I agree. Moreover, in the case of Suarez, I don't see any other bidders. Let's see how Ajax handles the situation of an unhappy player til the next transfer window then. But maybe that's I'm convinced by him and perception clouded by his WC antics. The situation that we're in means we neither here nor there, probably will be good for 5-7 Europa place. Have a good Cup run, give the kids an opportunity to play more than bit games. Show other highly rated kids out there that the club is serious about giving youth a chance. I would only go for higher price if it's a player like Hazard with massive potential and with no other club seeming wanting to bid for him now. Yeah, I know he's under Arsena;'s radar but they're bidding in June, so it would be a coup to land him. In this situation it would be worth to pay bit extra. Peeps, we always knew that Jan transfer window is not the best time to go shopping for players. I'd rather wait and accumulate the cash for an outlay in June.
