Just home, fucking buzzing.

Days like this is what supporting Liverpool is all about. Fuck Fergie's comments about Utd deserving to win and fuck Evra. Nothing can take the shine off this.

Yes, but did you wear your big coat and did any Salford pirates rob your spam fritter sandwiches on the train ?
Yep, wasn't overly cold though.

Wasn't as many Mancs on the train as i thought - the ones that were on it were pretty sound to be fair.

Fuck yes !

I said earlier in this here thread, that I was impressed with Halsey.

Not even that baldy copper on the touchline could fuck it up.

Good.

What about the spam fritter sandwiches ?

They safe ?

Evra did not know where to turn when the whistle sounded and Anfield ignited with the chant "Luis Suarez". There being no one in red whom he dared approach, he threw away his gloves and trooped off, Jamie Carragher being the solitary Liverpool player willing to offer a hand along the way.

Carragher then embarked on a celebration so loopy in front of the Kop that he lost a boot and had to paddle back to the dressing room wearing one.

"Absolutely shocking," was Ince's assessment of how the defender failed to anticipate Andy Carroll beating Jonny Evans in the air and carving Kuyt an open path to goal. Keane went further. "I think he gets caught in a lot of the big games," he said of Evra. "He should be tucking in."

When Maxi Rodriguez made a two-footed challenge on Ryan Giggs which warranted a dismissal, referee Mark Halsey reserved judgement long enough to see the Argentine was about to be substituted. It was a judicious way to keep the temperature down.

Similar wisdom prevailed in the press room when Dalglish shaped up for a Vesuvian reaction to the question of whether the boos for Evra had disappointed him. "Are you winding me up? Why would I be disappointed for Patrice Evra?" he asked his questioner. "Have you ever played football...?" A hand was placed on Dalglish by his press manager. Actions had already spoken louder than words. Liverpool had their day.

How to figure out LFC.

Smashed by Bolton where we looked so clueless and inept that I stopped watching with 10 minutesto go for the first time in my memory.

Then we come out and knock two of the best clubs in the world out of cups in successive matches. To be fair it was an issue we complained about under Rafa so it has to be an issue now.

That said I don't get the criticism of the performance. Sure, we didn't rape either team, we didn't tear them to pieces, slit them apart with radar like passing and a steady supply of goals. Here's the point, we were playing two excellent teams; when you play teams of that calibre you aim to play as well as possible given the quality of the opposition who are attempting to stop you. Giggs, Scholes, Valencia etc; they weren't there to make us look good nor for us to show off how wonerfully well we can play.

Does the result mean we've solved our goal scoring problems? Of course not. Does it mean we're the complete package? Obviously not. What it means is that we've got a football team who can play quality football under the intense pressure of doing it against the best there is. Games like this one provide too much pressure for a team to demonstrate the full range of their abilities; the important thing is if they can execute sufficiently to beat one of the top 3 teams or so in Europe over the last 5 years. The answer was yes!

Good summary Wiz.

The key moment for me was the substitution of Scholes. Clearly Utd's best player, and the best midfielder on show on the day, his tiring, then removal, changed the game as much as Kenny's subs. The imeptus change was twofold. That Utd need him that much reflects badly on them IMO.

Bellamy injected what we all knew he would into the proceedings, Kuyt did what he does when he's good, how often that is is determined by how big a fan of his you are.

Carroll's last 20 was his best showing in a Liverpool shirt. If he played like that all the time, no one would mention the price tag. Aggression, desire, attitude, its been lacking. He encapsualted the good and bad today. He spent an hour unable to win a 50/50 then looked like a World beater. He needs to bring that to the table all the time, not just against Utd.

But then, that's our regular problem. Utd, City, Chelsea and Arsenal are no bother. It's the rest of the games where we lack something.

Skrtel has been great season, that's also worth adding.

Yep, the Carroll comments in particular are spot on.

Skrtel looks like he's playing next to Sami again such is his form revival.

Great post. Much as this has undeniably been a disappointing season, wins against City, the Chavs (x2- away!), Arsenal and Utd demonstrate an ability to match any team in England on our day, and this is what also makes Kenny's side a formidable cup opponent.

If Brendan is still around (maybe Ryan will take over?) he would say "thanks for the CC final (we have not won it yet)" but **** *** Kenny?

He has matured into a fantastic player this year. If him and Agger can stay healthy, we have 4-5 years of a excellent CB tandem.

Quite. I kept thinking back to last week watching the Mancs against Arsenal, it seemed inevitable throughout how it would go, because both teams can only play one way but United just have that extra grit and endeavour, which is why it's so much more suited to us in these games, because we've got over a decade of good organisation drummed into us, so in these kind of matches, we frustrate and pick teams off. The problem we have is when we have to beat the lesser teams, we just seem to lose some kind of focus or efficiency when striving to get the win, especially when we're a player or two short of our best side. We seem to lose the edge and forget the simple things that seem to come so natural in the bigger games.

It's got to end and we've got to start being more efficient in those lesser games and start using our experience. We shouldn't be putting ourselves under pressure to batter sides, that'll come with building up momentum via professional performances.

Several media reports today it have claimed that when Kenny first responded to this tit his 'press advisor' put a 'restraining hand' on his shoulder. Can't see it myself.

Atkinson was originally down to referee the game but withdrew on Thursday because of "illness", the cause of which may or may not be unadjacent to the fact that Ferguson ripped into him not long ago. Thing is, though - Atkinson isn't biased, he's just cr@p, so we gained at least as much as United from the fact that he wasn't reffing yesterday.

So Brighton then?
Happy as fuck with the home draw. Shame Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs avoided one another.
Since Fergie ripped into him, some time towards the end of last season I think, Atkinson has not reffed a Man U game ???

The FA have awarded yesterday’s FA Cup tie to Manchester United, accepting Patrice Evra’s claim (after the referee had blown for full time) that his team had in fact scored at least ten goals and not just one.

The fact that no players, supporters or officials, nor TV cameras’ were able to confirm the other ten or more goals, did not mean that Mr. Evra’s claim was false.
When interviewed (through an amateur interpreter) immediately after the game, the accused Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina admitted conceding one goal. This damning confession was enough to convince the FA panel that he must have conceded the other ten or more as claimed by Mr. Evra.
The FA found Mr. Evra to be a very convincing witness on account of the fact that he is such a lovely bloke, has never been in trouble before, and claims to be fluent in several languages.
Mr. Reina’s testimony on the other hand was found to be totally unreliable in that he is Spanish (and we all know what they are like) and spoke mainly in Spanish through an interpreter.
As Mr. Reina had admitted to conceding one goal, the FA panel concluded that the probability was that he had conceded more than one. Mr. Evra would not have been so adamant if he hadn’t.
The FA has therefore settled on Manchester United winning by a margin of 7 goals to 2 as the true final score.
Pepe Reina and Liverpool Football Club have the right to appeal the score within the next 24 hours, but not overturn the defeat.
If they do decide to appeal and lose the appeal, they will be immediately kicked out of all FA competitions for the next 50 years
