Then we come out and knock two of the best clubs in the world out of cups in successive matches. To be fair it was an issue we complained about under Rafa so it has to be an issue now.
That said I don't get the criticism of the performance. Sure, we didn't rape either team, we didn't tear them to pieces, slit them apart with radar like passing and a steady supply of goals. Here's the point, we were playing two excellent teams; when you play teams of that calibre you aim to play as well as possible given the quality of the opposition who are attempting to stop you. Giggs, Scholes, Valencia etc; they weren't there to make us look good nor for us to show off how wonerfully well we can play.
Does the result mean we've solved our goal scoring problems? Of course not. Does it mean we're the complete package? Obviously not. What it means is that we've got a football team who can play quality football under the intense pressure of doing it against the best there is. Games like this one provide too much pressure for a team to demonstrate the full range of their abilities; the important thing is if they can execute sufficiently to beat one of the top 3 teams or so in Europe over the last 5 years. Truth is though for all our domestic bliss right now, beating City and United....we and United are a shadow of what we were 5 years ago and the current barca and real teams would have torn either of those teams on show yesterday a new asshole.
but one step at a time.... we need to start putting teams away at home in the league and finish fourth so we can attract the better players.
Cups would be nice mind you.... bit of silverware is good for the soul always

Chelsea, Leeds its all the same to me.
Beglin is a Chelsea fan. He was semi 'outed' live on air by, I think, Clive Tyldesley during a Champions League match (probably involving Chelsea). I can't remember what Tyldesley said but it resulted in Beglin confirming it and going on to explain it was a long standing thing and how he'd he stood out as a child (in Ireland) because everyone was a Liverpool or Man Utd fan.
