10 points above relagation woo hoo
That's the spirit! We could be Champions of Europe in Dublin, come May!

Embarrassing ... but not as embarrassing as it was:

1 Man Utd 23 11 1 0 34 7 3 8 0 17 14 30 51
2 Arsenal 23 7 1 3 25 11 7 3 2 23 11 26 46
3 Man City 24 7 3 2 18 10 6 3 3 19 10 17 45
4 Chelsea 23 8 2 1 24 7 4 3 5 18 12 23 41
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 Tottenham 23 6 5 1 17 9 4 3 4 15 17 6 38
6 Sunderland 24 6 5 1 15 8 3 5 4 13 16 4 37
7 Liverpool 24 7 3 2 20 10 2 2 8 11 21 0 32
8 Blackburn 24 6 3 3 17 10 3 1 8 14 27 -6 31
9 Newcastle 23 4 4 4 26 15 4 2 5 10 18 3 30

Our home record effectively matches Citeh in 3rd but oh dear me our Hodgson record is abysmal

Not really Champions of Europe though.

Let's not get the make-up bag out for Porky !
Are you saying Adam is a transvestite?

Woohoo, 0 goal difference!
I just hope this doesn't become an issue in the title run in.

If we win the Europa cup, will Hodgson or Rafa be looking to get into the dressing room, and congratulate "his team"?

Nah, Oncy, I wasn't referring to Adam, but what localny said about us being Champions of Europe come May.
Yes. Yes i know.

The fact that we're not yet in positive goal difference territory says all we need to know about the need for a striker!

whereas the man city negotiatng approach of 'here's my chquebook' and 'here's a pen' is really hot stuff innit?

i'm going to be controersial and say we don't really *need* any reinforcements, because although we're a good 5 or 6 players short of a complete squad, the current lot should really be good enough to coast to 7th and stands a fair chance of 6th. we're not going to get relegated, we're not going to get top 4. no-one really cares if we qualify for the uefa cup, although it's more likely than not that 7th would do it. the 3 players you mention - all good options, i agree - are *all* out of contract in 18 months, and *all* playing for clubs whose circumstances means they're desperate to hold on to them beyond the transfer window.

unless ajax or blackpool suddenly inexplicably surrender their positions, then the canny operator would wait it out and get them a good deal cheaper in the summer.
I agree. Moreover, in the case of Suarez, I don't see any other bidders. Let's see how Ajax handles the situation of an unhappy player til the next transfer window then. But maybe that's I'm convinced by him and perception clouded by his WC antics. The situation that we're in means we neither here nor there, probably will be good for 5-7 Europa place. Have a good Cup run, give the kids an opportunity to play more than bit games. Show other highly rated kids out there that the club is serious about giving youth a chance. I would only go for higher price if it's a player like Hazard with massive potential and with no other club seeming wanting to bid for him now. Yeah, I know he's under Arsena;'s radar but they're bidding in June, so it would be a coup to land him. In this situation it would be worth to pay bit extra. Peeps, we always knew that Jan transfer window is not the best time to go shopping for players. I'd rather wait and accumulate the cash for an outlay in June.

ORLY?
8 teams have scored more than us, while 9 have conceded less.
Obviously we need more firepower up front, but we are a shambles defensively as well.

No, Chabbie. Was Xabi Xubi ?

LOL
No Xabi wasn't Xubi

Was a real scrappy affair this one but I'll take the 3 points. Played well for the first 15 and then lost our thread. I thought the Torres goal was onside but wasn't best positioned for it (can anyone confirm whether it was or not) think that would have changed the way we approached the game. As the game dragged on we lost our confidence a bit and it showed. A fortunate goal but hey I'll take any win at the moment. Wins = confidence

A few other thoughts

I thought Reina, Agger, Johnson, Meireles and Maxi (1st half) had decent games
Skrtel is a liability
Kuyt was awful. No first touch and some right hospital balls being played

Rest were just very average

He was clearly onside mate. That goal should've stood and would've changed the game as well.
