great subs. carra all over the place as a holding midfielder but to be fair he is not a holding midfielder

Well obviously the result is all that matters but personally i thought there was so much wrong with that performance today. Long term we still have the same issues we've had all season and 1 result won't change that . We were pretty pants for most that game and never look like scoring (yeah , yeah we scored 2 i know ) . And yes Carroll was decent enough but let's be honest, nothing special at all compared to striker's we've had and the standard we should expect . A few decent flick ons and hold up play is the least we should expect , he doesn't have the movement to be a proper top striker . But at least he looked arsed .
The most pleasing aspect was that kenny managed to change it up but then again he was always going to put those lads on cause if fit they would have started . Also he mentioned in his interview how they had alot of the ball , how we hung in there etc so at least he is seeing it ..in recent weeks i was worrying what the fuck he was seeing .
Oh and i won't have that henderson was excellent ...he was what he always is , neat and tidy , does little wrong but doesn't offer much going forward .
but ignore me , i'm cursed with the inability to really enjoy results unless i think we fully deserved it and played well .

actually also in carroll's defence , bar gerrard we don't seem to have any sort of clue on what sort of service he likes or needs . I think it was around the 79th minute or so but the ball got knocked out wide quickly to a man in space (enrique? ) ...carroll spun on the edge of the box , got a yard on his man and was steaming in looking for the ball to be whipped in . Of course the wide player sat on it , the space to attack was gone and united defenders got back in position . Carroll was going mad after . It's only 1 incident in the game but it sums it up . And we have very few who can put in a decent cross either .
Kenny in his interview also touched on how they were trying to develop carroll's game to play in a style he wasn't use to at newcastle . He said they were being patient etc but i really think it's time they made their mind up on this , if they are really going to back him then he needs more minutes and not to be in and out of the team . If they don't think he can do it then sell him on in the summer and buy someone who can . right now i still think it will be the latter .

Just watched the second half as I missed game earlier, that's what Andy Carroll does he links up and flicks the ball on etc as long as he pushes into players and keeper kicks them and works hard I wouldn't be upset seeing him as a squad player here. It's just when he stands around a lite that really annoys me.
On the back of what kenny said in interview I also wouldn't be surprised the coaches clubs etc have told him to hold on at the edge of the box once in a while like that goal he scored v oldham??
