Nothing about our approach this game was overly cautious, and we should be 1-0 up.

We already look like we're getting overran at times in the middle, by Danny Murphy! As for Torres not having support, he needs a bit of fight alongside him, but we have supported, he's had a legit goal ruled out and he's had a couple of chances.

I wish people would stop putting so much emphasis on the formation. We played 442 enough times under Hodgson, fwiw.
 
Yes, a proper DM (instead of a useless wooden puppet) and one half-decent winger would do wonders for our team. Nothing wrong with the approach. I do wish Meireles and Gerrard would swap though.

I sort of agree, but Poulsen has misplaced a few passes and I think Kelly has made up for his mistakes with his attacking play. Is he turning into Johnson?

I agree. Tonight has really highlighted how we lack a DM, and that's not really a reflection on just Poulsen, just the three in general, none of them break up the play.
 
It's so strange to behold a Liverpool match at 0-0 and not have Babel to look forward to for the last 15 minutes.

I bet if he's in his new apartment in Germany watching this, he'll get up off the sofa after 75 minutes without realizing why he's doing it.

I concur, Stevie just seems to be getting in the way trying to take the ball off the back four.

Maxi off, Cole on. Push Gerrard right, Kuyt up with Torres. Cole and Gerrard can switch.

I watch the Detroit Lions every week and at least 80% of adverts are either food or trucks.

To be fair, their food ones are better than ours. Instead of some arsty shite they just show some 200lb burrito for $3 or something.

The truck ones are fucking shite. One of them has a guy dragging a boulder out of the middle of a desert. Why would you need to do that?
 
Well I disagree. Approaching the game with a 451, Torres alone up front and 3 in the middle is cautious.
That makes us play deeper. The whole midfield drifting deeper, leaving Torres Isolated and putting pressure on an already error prone defence
Kenny's playing like Rafa. Unbalanced team.

I prefer Kenny obviously but we have to get rid of Rafa's mentality at the club.
Meireles and Gerrard in the middle behind 2 strikers please!

[/quote]Its not cautious mate. We have had Gerrard, Raul, Torres, Maxi, Kuyt, Agger, Johnson and Kelly attacking. It doesnt matter what number you lay them out in, we are attacking.
 
Overall we have done ok though people. Dont forget we have been awful for most of this season and we are not going to turn into a crushing machine overnight. All we can really ask for is positive play and signs of improvement, and we have seen that.

Great, isn't it? He gets his attacking fullbacks and immediately wants to shift one of them.
 
I've noticed something here in the US that I haven't seen anywhere else. They do this thing where just before the last advert they flash up the image of the show you are looking at so that if you are fast forwarding through the ads you'll stop because you think your show is restarting and instead you end up seeing the last ad.

My ass we are being cautious.

We aren't that good, but we are approaching the game correctly, and have been since Kenny came on board.

Ugly GOAL from pressure alone. Fantastic!!
