You're absolutely right. Teixeira hasn't shown enough but he needs more time I think. The little I've seen of him playing with Firmino and Coutinho gives me some hope. They speak the same language on the pitch, both figuratively and literally.

Lallana is a decent back up, but he was bought to be more than that. The clock is ticking on his part. If we're ever going to get some of the money we spent on him back we need to sell him pronto.

Texeira is 23 though, less than a years difference between between him and Coutinho, is there much more improvement to come from him? Sadly, cos I thought he would be great for us, I don't think he will make it here.

Tex has exasperated me a bit since he came back in to the reckoning. He really should know what the league is like physically, and what refs here are like, yet he's playing like he's just come over from a foreign league and can't quite believe what he's got himself into. If he really is that easy to knock off the ball and intimidate then he should be giving himself sessions in the gym without anyone having to sort it out for him. He needs to show a bit of initiative. I say that as someone who was delighted we bought him. He looked a great prospect, and he probably still is, but he needs a good talking-to after all of those embarrassing falls. He''s way off coping with the physical challenge of the first team at present, and after all the time he's been there I find it infuriating.

Maybe not, but I think he deserves a chance. My honest opinion on Teixeira is that he's great with the ball, he can pick a pass and he can dribble as well.
Problem is that he just seems pedestrian sometimes and is easily shrugged of the ball.
If he wants to play in the middle he needs to get a whole lot stronger and work on his defensive side.
So there's room for improvement, nothing he can't work on during the summer with the right motivation and guidance.

I don't think Teixeira has shown he is anywhere close to taking over from Lallana, even if he's given more time. Lallana gets massive flak mainly because he cost a lot. Teixeira doesn't because he's younger and didn't cost a lot. But there's still a chasm between them in terms of class. Teixeira is certainly proving he's magnificent at falling down, but otherwise he's hardly challenging Lallana for his place. Give both of them a year to improve and then we'll see, but I doubt the verdict will change.

You're probably right about Tex, I don't know what to make of Lallana honestly. He's at his best as an energetic foil for the star players, but doesn't create and score enough on his own. He's more reliable than Ibe, sure, but between giving Ibe more developmental playing time, as well as Ojo and Kent the following season, and being in the market for a creative, goal-getting wide player, where does that leave Lallana as an attacking player?

I can see Lallana reinventing himself as a centre mid, a la Di Maria.

It's odd if Teix is finding the rough and tumble of the league a bit much to handle after a successful spell on loan in the championship. I do like him as a player though but I've no idea what to do with him. He's 23 and needs to be playing first team football. Perhaps try get him to sign a contract and then send him out on loan to a premiership club for a year??

Strange comment.

Did you felt low when Gerrard and Owen broke through the ranks?
No because you could see they are stars, and back then we had a decent first-team so they were potential for the future.
This Stewart has people excited that he can slot in right now and all I saw from him is a bunch of sideways and back passes under no pressure.

It was a bit frustrating watching Lallana, Milner and Firmino as our front 3 at times. I think all three will look a lot better alongside Sturridge/Ings and Coutinho. That goes without saying as it's an obvious assumption but those three that were out injured totally transform our team. L, M and F are perfect foils for Sturridge. It's refreshing to see a lot of our attacking players back and hopefully we get to witness some decent performances for the rest of the season.

Lallana, Milner and Firmino as a front 3 is a bit too one-paced and reliant on Firmino to produce the goods. I think something like one of the three plus Ings and Origi would be a more productive trio.

His loan spell in The Championship wasn't a complete success Dave. Brighton fans will tell you that on his day he was excellent and regularly won Man-Of-The-Match but too often he went missing in games of a more physical nature. I saw him a few times at brighton and sure enough he did tend to "hide" if he was on the end of a few early tough tackles.

Some promising comments about Stewart's attitude from U21 coach Michael Beale..

“One thing I'd say about Kevin since he's come in is that he's the hardest working player we have got, We have to kick him out of the gym!

He's the one we have to close the building on. He's here all day. He lives away from home and his family are all in London so he's not going home to anyone.

But he's got a real zest for football and is a top young professional. I'm pleased he's getting his moment now".

Always a chance if you work harder than everyone else.

The motivation with replacing Lallana with Tex, despite the difference between their respective ability at present, has to be as much financial as common sense.

You've got a hugely expensive bit part player and a less expensive younger player who has the potential to make a similar contribution eventually. It makes sense to get a good fee for Lallana while age is on his side, and to indulge in Texeira. You win some you lose some.

As for Stewart, he's done really well but he's benefited from capitalising on circumstance, more than a conscious effort to get him in the team. Rodgers gave similar opportunity to Ibe and Flanagan. The former has, bizarrely, struggled under Klopp.

It seems pretty straightforward to me: Lallana and Milner occupy the same backup role, and the latter has more utility as a player. There'll be at least one more first-team attacking player brought in, plus Klopp doesn't believe in loaning out the best youngsters, so minutes between Ibe, Ojo, Kent, Wilson and maybe even Canos will have to be spread out.

Klopp seems to rate Lallana though; we could well see Markovic being sold instead.

re Ibe: I don't think it's bizarre to see Ibe struggling. He's a young player arguably given more minutes than he should be because we don't have a first-team wide player with pace. His patchy form is understandable especially when you consider his weaker attributes are his football intelligence and decision making, which playing as a wingback helps mask while playing more forward exposes to an extent.

I'm almost sure Klopp will look to bring in a good DM. Thank fuck for that, it's been years since we've had one.

So I reckon the 2 central slots will be between the new DM, Can, Henderson, Stewart and Grugic.

Linked again across European outlets with Xhaka today. Rumours Klopp himself has met with the player and agent.

Kevin Stewart made his Premier League debut at Aston Villa but may now face a spell on the sidelines
Liverpool fear that Kevin Stewart is facing an extended spell on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who made his Premier League debut in Sunday's 6-0 rout of Aston Villa, is anxiously awaiting the results of a scan after limping out of training on Monday.
Stewart won't travel to Germany with Jurgen Klopp's squad on Wednesday ahead of the Europa League clash with Augsburg.
It's an agonising setback for the former Tottenham trainee who has made a big impact since Klopp handed him a first-team bow about Exeter City in the FA Cup last month.

Adam Lallana will also miss the game with Augsburg due to an ongoing calf problem but Lucas Leiva is available after overcoming the minor hamstring problem that ruled him out of the trip to Villa Park.
Daniel Sturridge is expected to feature after coming through his first Premier League start since October unscathed.
“We lost Kevin Stewart in training,” Klopp said.
“He blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable.

“It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan. We think it’s the ligament.
“He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good.
“Lucas is back fit but not Adam. He has no chance for Thursday's game.”

He would have missed it anyway.
Hope the injury isn't too serious

Modo should be banned from having any crushes on our guys. I think he probably has a Sturridge doll by his side as well.
