Assuming you do mean "this year" and not "this season" (which hasn't yet lasted long enough to judge IMHO) appearances can be deceptive. It's certainly possible that Henderson's not covering quite as many yards, but that could well be because he's playing more intelligently. I certainly think there's been more of a cutting edge to his play this calendar year. Witness how badly we missed him at the end of last season.

Henderson worked his socks off against Southampton. He was okay last night but I felt we were static all over the pitch at times.

Does he EVER look forward for a more incisive pass?

Always seems to want to play the easy pass and it happens far too frequently for an area of the pitch you want that creativity and killer instinct.

Suppose I'm the only critic here though as many seem to just praise his overall work ethic and ability to break up play.

I like Henderson, and want him in the team, somewhere. But I think he needs to up his game and start producing more in the top half of the pitch. People who point to his assist for Sterling last week, which was brilliant, was more the exception than the rule. He's not doing that every game.
