Apperently Hew Jenkins has revealed that as part of the compensation deal with Swansea, we can't buy any of there players for the next 12 months. Sigurdsson is our only option from his old place then.

Huw confirms that a fee and personal terms are agreed, but transfer delayed due to Sig on holidays.

He also confirmed no Liverpool bids for Swansea players for 12 months.

as if that's true. so if they sell one of their players to someone else then we're not allowed to match the price = bollocks.

Why do people think he'll go back for his Swansea players anyway ? He has a bigger budget now. Sigurdsson is £6.8m, their record signing.

"Yes. There is money to spend. We haven't got the wheelbarrow overflowing. It's not falling out over the edges but there is money to spend. There are some terrific players here and big talents and I want to help improve them as players and as people. There will be some additions to improve and improve our way of playing as well."

Gylfi would be a brilliant little signing and as he's not Swansea-owned he can't be part of the 'don't touch the Swansea-players' add-on.

Don't follow the link myself John. Doesn't mean we don't have money and certainly doesn't mean we'll have to search for players in Swanseas squad

I agree, I hope the owerflowing remark was one to make it seem like we have a tight budget, so we don't get charged Carroll prices all the time.

And as we are not even allowed to for the next 12 months that's very likely not going to happen 🙂

Reading are on red alert after Gylfi Sigurdsson’s proposed transfer to Swansea City hit a glitch.

Swansea released a statement on Monday declaring that they had won the race to sign the former Reading ace for £6.8million from Hoffenheim.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, the Bundesliga club have issued a denied any agreement has been reached.

Hoffenheim spokesman Holger Tromp said: “Gylfi is a player with a regular contract in Hoffenheim and we expect him to be back in training on June 18.”

With Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers heading to Anfield, Merseyside has become 22-year-old Sigurdsson’s most likely destination.

However, Royals will be keeping a close eye on the deal, with fans desperate to see the midfielder return to Madejski Stadium.

Anton Zingarevich’s takeover at the club will allow manager Brian McDermott to access instant funds to bring in new recruits.

And there would be no better way for him to show the fans that he means business than by bringing back the man who scored 20-goals in the 2009/10 campaign before being sold for a club record £7million to Hoffenheim.

Sigurdsson scored seven goals in a 19-game loan spell at the Liberty Stadium this year, and ironically his last game for Swansea was against Liverpool in a 1-0 win on May 13.

So yeah. Buy him. Don't think we can turn our nose up at someone who scores regularly from MF

Huw also confirmed that the proposed transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim is on-going with a transfer fee and personal terms agreed.

"We've done all we can with Gylfi agreeing terms and a fee, but he's gone away on holiday which has delayed things a bit. However, we are hopeful of getting things tied up next week," added Huw.

Didn't Rafa bring Garcia?
Didn't Unky Roy bring Konchesky?
Didn't Kenny bring Adam?

Why shouldn't Brendan *shudders* bring Sigurdsson?
