Fuck him I say he will be pissed when we finish higher than spurs that's if he didnt go there for the money if he did he won't care lol.(spurs the small time club with fuck all history compared to us and that's how it will remain always).

id rather have a future than a history*

*im actually not that pessimist about our season i just thought someone should make the point

It's nice to have both and we will we are Liverpool football club one of the biggest clubs in the world

I'm frustrated we missed out him; he looked a decent player and all reports indicated that he was a dedicated professional who has the right attitude to continue to develop as a footballer. Spurs might have got a bargain, but we'll wait and see.

Also, I don't think any less of him for joining Spurs. They finished ahead of us, have a more attacking orientated squad and as Ross rightly points out, they offered more money. Fair enough. Let's move on and sign some even better players.

I bet he'd do one of those elaborate 'I'm fishing' goal celebrations, and that would be tiresome after a while. If he scored many goals. Which I doubt he will.

Unfortunately, although it is hard for us all to accept, money is the main driver for players and agents. Not being in the CL means we have to pay a decent wage for any decent prospects. It's great not wanting to be taken for a ride, but what kind of player does that leave you with? A not very good one?

So what's the strategy then? Get unknown prospects in, and pay them little? Short term, we don't have attacking midfielders From the academy ready for the first team ready to slot in.

From what i've heard (not an ITK, just papers etc) we've found several players in the AM mould all just as if not more capable than Sigurdsson. No need to panic anyway, it's the start of fucking July.

And that's absolutely right. No position is as rich as the AM slot for good young players in Europe. There's better than Sigurdsson to be had - I've said that from the start of this transfer saga.

We're still heavily linked with Gaston Ramirez but that's a discussion for another thread for fear of Ross thrashing me to within an inch of my life with his verbal dissatisfaction.

I think that's harsh. If the money's not there, Rodgers can't do much about it.

Quite. Then there's the brackets of wages. He's a young player with potential, if we do finally have a decent structure in place, by giving someone like Gylfi more than we consider he's worthy of at present, then that has a knock on effect on the potential wages for another target.

It's not Football Manager, and of course there has to be some flexibility, but saying no shouldn't automatically mean we've got no flexibility. For all our over paying on Downing last season, we didn't go all out on the lad that joined Sunderland, we made an offer, refused to meet the counter valuation and moved on. The only reason this would piss me off is if we go and do the same now and pay over the odds for some no-mark. Putting everything in perspective, I don't think we've done alot wrong, he's a talented lad who's had a decent season at the top end of the English game, there's a way to go before he's worthy of the hype.
