He's right though. Pretty basic defending that, not allowing a right footed player to go inside and shoot with, yes, his right foot.

I guess that's why numerous people are criticizing Johnson. He makes those simple mistakes sometimes. Can't afford that at this level

Yeah he'll never be worth the fee we paid for him.

The best chance I think of him being worth that money is if he becomes a good right winger. It's an idea that is poo-pooed, but I don't see the harm in trying him there. He's strong, quick, athletic, can score with either foot, can dribble etc. Plus he would know to track back. Play him right midfield with Kelly behind him and see how we do.

He still needs to get tighter, he's standing a yard off everytime allowing them to go on the inside or the outside, he got done time and time again against Chelsea on the outside, and last night he got done on the inside by Danny Murphy. If he's closer to his man it allows him to close down the space and give less room for manoeuvre.

People are bleating on about his attacking quality, well that's the point. Get him on the fucking wing then, the lad clearly can't defend consistently enough at the highest level.

I have noticed the standing off this year. It wasn't as blatant in previous years but then again he got beaten anyway so lets just stop including a poor defensive defender and let him play RW or ship him off to the no defense league (La Liga).
