I remember when he signed, he mentioned in his interview how he gets yellows ...

Yesterday, when Barca won his first corner and Suarez was 'slowing things down', he demanded the ball and stood up to him. You could see he was ready for the battle.

He got a yellow on a clean tackle around the 10th minute, and then for 85 minutes he dominated the middle of the park. Timely tackles, moving the ball around efficiently and even had enough energy in the dying minutes to push forward and draw a foul from MEssi.

This lad is a fucking pain to play against - he's got that style that other teams hate and he's fucking class.

Such a great signing.

He was superb yesterday. Fantastic signing and has really improved our midfield and has added a name to the spine of the team.
That run and foul in injury time took the game out of their hands. I love the fact that he falls over and wins freekicks like Didi Hamann used to.

He must be such a pain in the arse to play against. His aerial ability and physical presence is also key for us.

Has also done very well when asked to stand in at CB. We need him in midfield, but it's good to know that he can not just "do a job" elsewhere but do it well.

An absolute object lesson in not writing any new signing off too soon. He was a real nowhere player to begin with, but just look at him now.

Quite. Anyone other than Messi would have been booked - at least - in both legs of the tie, had the referee spotted what he'd done.

I few of us thought he was the perfect defensive midfield signing for us, based on his performances in France admittedly, though his style looked spot on and just what we needed. I was so excited when he signed.

It took him a little while to reach these levels from average when he started but he is absolutely awesome now and I just love watching him play, almost always chooses the right option, is class on the ball with superb technical skills and totally world class (we have a few of them now : maybe 7 or 8 in fact)!!

He was great last night.

Imagine if we'd have signed him AND Bernardo Silva from Monaco.

After that first yellow, and the passion/aggression he showed for that corner kick against Suarez, I was certain he was going to get sent off.

But how he managed his aggression after that, with timely interceptions and Messi running at him, was just superb.

Completely dominated the centre of the park yesterday. The DM we've been crying out for.

Klopp deserves immense credit with the way he slowly phased him in.

What I like about Fabinho is he's a proper tough cunt, not adversed to a Didi Hamann type crumble. After he got punched by Messi the last game in the lead up to their 3rd, I love how he won that freekick against Messi at the end there, yesterday. Karma.

Yeah, everyone talks about Sterling and Aguero, but that annoying little shit B.Silva has their main man this season. Such passion, tireless running and aggression from him. It's annoying how good he's become this year.

Thank fuck the mancs didn't sign him huh?

He was fucking incredible last night. Him VVD and Alisson is a serious spine

Alisson could have easily gone to Chelsea if we didn't move fast.

Virgil was on Citeh's radar, but we were patient and moved fast when the opportunity arose.

Fabinho had been scouted for some time by United. Thankfully we moved quickly there too.

The recruitment over the last few years has been magnificent.

Took a while to settle, and there's been a few games where he has looked a bit exposed (usually when left on his own in the midfield) but he was superb last night and he's had a great six months or so, to the point where I'm surprised if he doesn't start.

That extra height, physicality and grit has been so useful (especially when Henderson isn't around) and he can pass sharply too.

Great to have a genuine, proper DM in the side.

Hard to pick an MOM last night but if pushed I would give it to Fabinho. His improvement seems to have coincided in an improved Henderson as well.

I'd forgotten about that block near the end. Everything was so frantic it was kind of lost in the shuffle. He was absolutely immense last night. When he dispossessed Messi in midfield and drew a foul near the end I cheered like it was a goal. He has been brilliant since November/December. He's a brilliant DM, but there's more to him than that. He's excellent on the ball and provided a couple of nice assists this season (vs Man United and Wolves spring to mind) and is an extremely tactically astute player. His signing while a big deal was seen as secondary vs Keita in the summer but he's been an absolutely brilliant signing. Overall recruitment since Klopp took over has been fantastic (Karius aside)

Allison
VVD
Robertson
AOC
Matip
Salah
Mane
Gini
Fabinho
Keita (he has shown some good signs of progress recently. Hopefully he can hit the ground running next season. Cue like a new signing cliche)

That's a ridiculous level of getting your signings right.

I noticed quite a few pundits went that way too. Probably mine too but there were so many candidates.

Picks the right tackle too. Sometimes it's a little nick just to tickle the ball away, sometimes he's a human earth remover as Suarez found out to his cost.
