I fear for Milner, he joined to be the main man in the middle, he's already been shunted out wide.

Well, that's his fault. He played for Man City wide right for 5 years, it's not like he doesn't know the position. If he wants to stay in the team - in any position, keep that armband on, and not get fucking hooked after 60 mins cos your contribution was so negligible then offer a bit more. I like Milner a lot, but this shit's on him. He's earning a fucking fortune, and has zero excuses, yet yesterday he looked like he'd never met a football before. Clyne there to support him at will, and he offered very little. Nice that Klopp seemed happy to give him a fucking bollocking for his efforts too.

Anyway, everyone's said everything already that I agreed with, but one little thing I loved; Klopp's attitude to winning the game. He knew they were there to be beaten at 1-1 and went for it. Took off Milner and kept the 3 of Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho buzzing behind Benteke. Bold move. Didn't replace like for like, and didn't leave the work-hard midfielder on. Ballsy. Then we go 2-1 up, he's got Ibe standing next to him ready to come on... How many managers would have fucked that idea off and brought on someone like Allen or Lovren to shore things up straight after going ahead? It's exactly what I thought he should do. But fuck it, he kept the faith, brought Ibe on, and the kid set up the third five minutes later. That's why I'm sitting on the couch, and he's on the touchline.

Fucking love that shit. 4 games into a new league, away to the Champions and he throws his balls out and goes for it cos he knew it was there to be won.

That's where fucking 'managers make a difference'. Recognising the situation, and taking advantage of it. Don't ever let someone tell you managers are irrelevent.

That man won us the game when 99% of others would have happily settled for a draw.

My mate said he was in a pub on deansgate, central manchester, and said there was a cheer for our second goal. Just shows how massive the axis of cuntery is down in that shithole of a club.
There was even a thread on RedCafe about 'supporting' Liverpool ! The majority wanted us to beat Chelsea though without it seeming like they were actually 'supporting' us. Lesser of two evils, which is probably how we feel when faced with such a dilemma 🙂

Their support was almost non-existent for most of the game. The only time when they could be heard was when the entire home crowd chanted the Gerrard-Demba Ba song and sign on.
It was sang with such enthusiasm that made me desperately want us to beat them.
Our fans were truly magnificent yesterday, you could hear them for most of the match, even when we were goal down.

Lallana isn't a match winner.. .. However he is an expert in creating the space for the match winners. He knows when to run to pul the defender away.

Lallana is a solid 6/7 every week at least. I've no problem with that being in the starting line up
Trufax. I also read somewhere else yesterday that he does an impressive amount of work that goes unnoticed - which is highlighted in this very thread. An important part of that work is that of keeping possession which all of our more technical players are very good at; Coutinho, Firmino, Texeira and Lallana, when under pressure in tight situations they more often than not find a way out whether by making the pass or dribbling their way out of a situation which could have ended in a turnover.

Klopp said Lucas couldn't be subbed as he was our only option there, Klopp loves Can and will love Hendrson constant running approach to the game
I still wouldn't take Can over Milner in CM. Lucas, Hendo and Milner (he won't be this shite every match) should be our MF until January when hopefully Klopp will bring in some reinforcements. People are forgetting how well Milner has played in a few matches this season (and how important he is to gegenpressing) but he does look ready for an easier life on the bench.

The problem with Lallana is that he is not very suitable to the counter-attacking game due to his lack of pace and tendency to hold on to the ball for too long. Lightning-quick counters were Dortmund's killer weapon for years, and when Klopp starts building that part of our game I just don't see how Lallana can fit in. I'll be happy if he proves me wrong though.

At the moment we simply don't know how to counter-attack as a team – I don't think I can remember even one quick counter in 5 games under Klopp yet – but you can be sure Klopp is not going to leave it like this for long. Now that the basics of pressing and the defensive shape have been established (still needing a lot of improvement and fine-tuning, of course), I think he will start paying the attacking side of the game much more attention.

I supect that real answer to this theoretical question does not correspond with the point you are making.

My thoughts:

Mign's save on Oscar's lob was really fantastic. It was a great hit, and Mign saw it early and managed to keep it out. Big

Milner needs a break - he's not playing well, and it impressed me that Klopp took him off ... Don't play well? Don't play ...

Skittles and Sakho with another solid performance together.

Moreno's watching Ramires swoop really pissed me off ... Other than that, he really has improved and his pace is so important. If somehow we can tweak his defensive game further, and improve his final ball, we may have a real player on our hand.

Emre Can - he really ain't too bright. But he'll be ok.

Lucas - great performance. Lucky to stay on? On some days, he'd be off, yes but it's a 50/50 call really. The Chelsea behavior was embarrassing - like their cunt of a manager and club in general.

Lallana - I don't think he's got a role to play as a first team player with us after this season, but he's a good squad option.

Firmino - not bad game leading the line ... smart on the ball, work rate, and I like what we have here.

Coutinho - The first half infuriated me ... It just seemed like he didn't care, like his mind was somewhere else. Then he pops up with that beauty, and then another? Maybe this is where it turns around for him because until the goal, I thought he was shite.

Benteke - we have a player here. First thing I remember - demolishing Zouma on a header, nice one. Second, winning the header that set up Coutinho's goal and then a cool, calm finish ... Stay healthy and we have the striker we need for 20 goals a season.

Klopp - My only gripe was I think Lucas should have come off - not because he wasn't playing well, but because I was positive we'd be with 10 men eventually.

And Clattenburg ... I thought he was average. Missed calls for both sides ... probably should have shown two reds and I still don't know (but I'm grateful) why he let us continue our attack late in the 1st half where Coutinho equalized.

Mourinho was already on his way to the tunnel... its obv now he was leaving on borrowed time ..

I could understand why. I myself was jumping up and down in excitement. The players finally give a fuck and us, the fans know it. The meh feeling in the first 6-8 matches were all gone.

Thanks chaps.

Just wanted to see what they said about Lucas incident and Mourinho's antics.

Good to see that everyone is fed up with him now.

This is always the case at SB. In fact - it's the case in most away games.
Pity that Anfield these days is such a quite stadium.
I hope Klopp's enthusiasm will "infect" the Anfield stands!

As someone said yesterday, bringing on Lovren in midfield for the last few minutes has got to be the biggest fuck you to Jose in a long time. Love Klopp!

Milner looked tired and exhausted. Even before this game I thought he needed a rest. I think Clyne will need a rest in a game or two. I don't know the distance they ran yesterday but probably as a team its above 117km. We need to start recalling players where we can except loss causes.

Even more than being physically tired, I though Milner was mentally shot. A good rest and he'll be fine.

Yep, some time on the bench, giving the armband back to Henderson and "restart" as Klopp says.
He'll come good.
