Bit of 'mare against Sunderland. Are we expecting him back? Today was not a good day.

I dont think we will be keeping him, hes a decent defender but hes 23 in a couple of weeks and it looks like hes not going to reach the level required

He was a really good prospect a few years ago - powerful, dominant, a natural leader, recognised at international level as well as at club. But he's just lost his way.

Hopefully we'll get a few million for him in the summer. I can't imagine he's got any hope of getting a go here.

His problem is he is useless at right back. He should have realised from a young age that he was not fucking John Terry, his one hope was to get into the team as a right back, play well, then work his way back into the middle.

I don't like the convention that if you're a young CB you absolutely must serve an apprenticeship at RB or LB. Yes it teaches you things but not every single CB is suited to playing out on the flanks, especially these days when those positions demand exceptional speed and stamina.

In ancient days, for example, Lawrenson could have played out wide at any stage in his career (and of course sometimes did), as could Smith, Hughes and Nicol, but Thompson was never suited to it, nor was Hansen. More recently, could you have ever pictured Sami bombing up the wings in his younger days? Carra did but he didn't start out at CB, and, although memories play tricks on some, he had loads of critics during that period, and no really great band of supporters urging him to stay in the side in the middle.

Sometimes - and only sometimes - if you see a talented young central defender, play him in the damned centre and see if he'll flourish. I repeat I'm not advocating scrapping the usual approach, I just think you need to be a bit more flexible.

As soon as Wisdom was getting plaudits from England and LFC coaches for his dominant and assured performances in the middle, he was bunged out wide on the right. The result is that he now looks miles away from being a decent RB, and he's ceased to look at all special at CB. Of course, the lazy argument will be, 'Well, that shows he's never been any good,' but that's knowingly misleading. He did once look very promising indeed, and it's a shame what's happened.

Agree 100%.

I've said exactly this from the start. He never had a chance of being a good RB, but a reasonable one of being a top CB. It shouldn't take a fucking Einstein to deduce the correct approach in those circumstances.

It's really frustrating. Especially considering we've never struggled to get far less promising CBs decenttime on loan in their correct position. Sokolik, Ayala, Antwi etc.

He isn't good enough but because of the English premium we should get a few quid for him

He has shown a lack of concentration at big moments this season leading to sloppy mistakes

That, to be fair, could be any Liverpool defender this season.
