Adam injury confirmed

2 goals + 2 own goals + 6 assists - (Gerrard + Kenny footage) ~ 3 minutes
3 minutes of being effective in about 2700 minutes of on-pitch time this season.

Wow, who would have thought that Adam would turn out to be average?

I personally didn't see this one coming.

What has really startled me is just how often Adam strikes the ball poorly.
He was bought largely on the back of his dead-ball ability and yet I bet he has one of the worst records in clearing the first man / assists / shots on target / goals and pretty much any other meaningful, relevant metric you care to cite.
His exit from Liverpool would be helpful to the team but i would not wish him injury to make it so. I simply wish Dalglish could see what 45,000 people see live and millions more see on TV every week. He's dragging us into irrelevance.

I don't think he's a bad ball striker really. His technique is pretty good.

He's just not a centre midfielder for a club with ambitions of being in the top 4 is all.

I.e., A center midfielder who struck the ball better would be.

His issues (in relation to being a top class centre midfielder) aren't in his feet mate, they're in his head.

I knew before I opened the thread that you'd have replied in exactly this tone. People have backed him because he can do some things well, he's at a big club with better players which you'd hope would aid his development. We paid what? £6m/£7m for him? I'm astounded that you can take the stance that you're the only person who thought he wouldn't make it. Just because people back a player and give them the benefit of the doubt and some support, it doesn't turn it into another big fuck off contest of oneupmanship. People just aren't as scathing from the off.

I didn't see any of adam last season and when we were linked with him half the forum were over the moon and the other half were devastated. when the season started it looked like the people who were happy we bought him were justified but as the season wore on (to be fair with the injury of lucas) adam has looked increasingly out of his depth.

what I will say though having only observed him for one season is kenny moved on merieles and aqua but (you'd think) it was because they couldn't tackle and offered a poor shield for the defenders, well is adam any better in this regard?

Aquilani was told he'd be competing with Gerrard, Neil. I think there was more to the Meireles thing than us just saying he could go, he clearly wasn't too disappointed to be joining one of his compatriots at Stamford Bridge. Eitiher way, both are better players, but they cost more and play different roles anyway.

I think we could've easily held onto Meireles had we wanted to. A real shame.

I still don't know what role Adam is meant to have in the team but I'm glad that I won't be seeing him play it for a while now.

I don't see how meireles plays in a different position than adam. I can definately see that aqua is competing with gerrard but I definately think ming would have been a good foil for lucas.
going by some people's raving of adam I thought kenny was justified by bombing aqua and ming out the door but see adam in action this season I think it was a huge mistake, not because I rate either that highly but because I just think adam is that poor.

He's never really liked Carragher damn well better be.

Ive never been a big fan of Carragher but I've always kept quiet about it for obvious reason, don't get me wrong a few years ago he was a great defender, although he was still overrated on here, but I've never been a big fan of his, maybe it's because I'm not from Liverpool.

the seasons of the CL and the two seasons that followed I thought carra was outstanding (still not better than sami but still outstanding) before that I thought he was overrated and the past two seasons I think carra has been out and out poor. it was hilarious reading comments that before agger was made first choice (due to a carra injury no less, he wasn't dropped) people were saying it was carra +1, at the time I was thinking 'then we really are fucked'. obviously the 'carra +1' died a death when agger was given an extended run.

Yes, I agree. But he may be the one we need to replace, or improve upon(as in get a fitter version), if Coates doesn't step up.

we really should be giving coates a run NOW. carra getting games ahead of him is a little crazy when we have so little to lose in the league.

You might want to be more clear when talking about a Liverpool legend. Thinking he was overrated okay. Never liking him, I'm surprised people didn't stone you.
