penalty.

Is that a sign of our lack of play in the opponent's area? or LiVARpool again?

I honestly am struggling to remember the last time I felt we had a penalty shout turned down that was a penalty ... but I'm getting old and forgetful.

Well what else would you put it down to if not?

Don't think the ref can give a pen for a tug back on Mo on the half way line because he feels sorry for us and knows we haven't had 1 for the past 27 games.

Alisson's had more touches in his box the last game than we've had the opponents box since we came back from World Cup.

We have the second highest amount of touches in the oppositions penalty box in the league this season.

For whatever reason we rarely get given penalties even when by most metrics they are. Salah seems to the one who suffers most in this regard even though some of his claims were clear cut. I'm totally flummoxed TBH.

It's nothing to do with the time we spend in the opposition penalty area - which is amongst the highest in the league.

That's got nothing to do with penalty claims not being given. We have had more than our fair share of 'justifiable' claims knocked back.
That said a quick look at the Penalties Given table and maybe it's just a case of far fewer being given (VAR perhaps) this season?

Southampton, Everton, Arsenal, United : all given just the 1 penalty. Bournemouth and ourselves : zero.

This season in the league, the only other team besides us with no penalty awarded is Bournemouth.
  • Fulham FC 7
  • West Ham United 6
  • Brentford FC 5
  • Manchester City 4

Our final 1/3 quality - it's just not there anymore.

Once we get Bellingham we'll finally get some regular penalties again. English player that will get the rub of the green with the refs. We currently have both Salah and Nunez who wont get anything ever again.

There was a stat somewhere that Salah just about never gets a free kick. No matter how much the opposition tries to kill him.

Its all said a bit in jest obviously. But the likes of Kane benefits from being Englands golden boy. No doubt.

Well at least the top 3 doesn't have anyone we're used to seeing there.

Salah’s dribbling style also plays a part, I feel. Compare him to Diaz who has won several pens already since joining because of his much more expansive dribbling style that makes him more likely to be fouled (but also to get injured, unfortunately).
